Transfer Rumours: Chelsea signing approved as Man Utd double deal eyed
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours from 5 April, including the latest updates on Valentin Barco, Riccardo Calafiori and Andreas Christensen.
Barco says yes to Chelsea
Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco has already greenlit a potential summer move to Chelsea, Fabrizio Romano reports.
The Argentina international has been heavily linked with a Blues switch since Liam Rosenior traded Alsace for West London, and a transfer appears to be a formality at this point.
Romano states that it is more a question of when, not if, the transfer gets announced. Barco is keen to play for Chelsea next season, and he could be the replacement for wantaway midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
Calafiori chased by Juventus
Juventus have reignited their interest in Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Bianconeri want to build an Italian spine and have earmarked the Gunners star as a priority target. They believe that Calafiori could be tempted to return to Serie A.
However, a deal hinges on two crucial factors. For one, Juventus need to qualify for the Champions League, and secondly, Calafiori would have to push for the move to soften Arsenal's not-for-sale stance.
Man Utd eye two prospects
Man Utd are keeping tabs on Blackburn Rovers defender Tom Atcheson and Bayern Munich winger Maycon Cardozo, according to TEAMtalk.
19-year-old centre-back Etcheson has made 11 first-team appearances for Rovers and is a senior Northern Ireland international. He has been compared to Phil Jones, who also came through the club's academy.
Cardozo, meanwhile, is a 17-year-old winger who made his senior debut for Bayern last month. However, due to his age, he would not be able to move to the UK until next January.
Christensen an option for Arsenal?
Barcelona have offered Andreas Christensen a new contract on significantly reduced terms, Sport claims.
The Catalans are keen to keep him around, but not at all costs. This means that he could receive more lucrative offers from elsewhere and depart the club on a free transfer.
Arsenal should be attentive to the situation as the Denmark international would be a good fit for Mikel Arteta's style, and he has exactly the experience and mentality the Spaniard wants in a player.
De Zerbi wants Verbruggen
New Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi is keen to reunite with his former Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, according to TEAMtalk.
However, whether a deal materialises could hinge on developments elsewhere. Verbruggen is also said to be Bayern Munich's top target to replace Manuel Neuer should he decide to retire this summer.
It means that De Zerbi will be hoping that Neuer extends his Bayern contract for another year, so that Spurs may have an easier time acquiring Verbruggen.
