Rangers ready to sign Chermiti replacement after official transfer response
Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who is currently on loan at Championship side Hull City, has enjoyed a spectacular 2025-26 season and his form has attracted the attention of the Ibrox hierarchy, who are keen to purchase a new striker this summer.
Gelhardt, who is known as 'Joffy', has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 33 Championship games this campaign, and he has starred playing just behind Oli McBurnie in Sergej Jakirovic’s system at the MKM Stadium.
The Englishman has just one year remaining on his current deal at Leeds and Daniel Farke’s side must therefore decide whether to sanction a permanent sale or finalise a contract extension agreement during the summer window.
When asked about the prospect of rejoining Hull this summer, Gelhardt recently told Leeds Live: “It'd be stupid to say no because I've played my best year of football here; it's obviously more difficult than just making a decision, but yeah, pretty much.
“At the minute, yeah. I'm enjoying it that much, yeah, I love playing for this club. Nothing is certain in football, and things change, but we can only take it game by game. I think everyone knows how much I love it here.”

Joe Gelhardt transfer latest
Hull are expected to pursue a deal for Gelhardt following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign, but they will face significant competition for his signature as Rangers are also eager to sign him amid his goalscoring exploits this term, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
It comes following reports from the Netherlands that suggest that PSV Eindhoven want to sign Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti.
The Scottish giant’s all-time record signing has endured a fairly underwhelming debut campaign at Ibrox, but he endeared himself to the club’s supporters with a brace against Celtic in March and his form has improved significantly following the appointment of Danny Rohl.
PSV are understood to have been tracking Chermiti’s progress for several months and Rangers are beginning to plan for life after the 21-year-old.
