Chelsea make Liam Rosenior sack u-turn
Chelsea have reportedly made a major u-turn regarding their managerial situation following four consecutive defeats in all competitions.
Liam Rosenior enjoyed a successful start to life in the Stamford Bridge dugout, however the Blues’ form has nosedived in recent weeks and they now face an uphill battle to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Despite Chelsea’s recent run of results, BBC Sport have confirmed that a managerial change is not in BlueCo’s plan, with Rosenior regularly involved in transfer meetings with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart ahead of this summer.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph have reported that Rosenior is not in any danger of losing his job, with the club set to retain his services until at least the end of next season.
However, transfer reporter IndyKaila claims Chelsea have now made a u-turn after assessing Rosenior’s performances since his appointment from Strasbourg. He posted on X: “Our source from London states that certain Chelsea officials have decided a new direction is needed next season.
“They believe the current management set-up is not working. [A] new manager search has started.”
However, Chelsea are extremely unlikely to make a final decision on Rosenior’s future before the end of the season, with the Englishman set to be given the chance to oversee the remainder of the Premier League campaign at the very least.
Liam Rosenior faces uncertain Chelsea future
Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been tipped as a potential candidate to replace Rosenior at Chelsea, following his exploits at Coventry City, while Como manager Cesc Fabregas has also been linked with a Stamford Bridge return.
Strasbourg head coach Gary O’Neil could also possibly be a contender due to Chelsea’s links with the Ligue 1 club.
Rosenior has won 10, drawn two and lost seven of his 19 matches since arriving at Chelsea in January.
