Man Utd Transfer News Today: Arsenal stars wanted in summer move after Rashford to Barcelona twist
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Myles Lewis-Skelly, Harry Maguire and Ben White.
Lewis-Skelly added to Man Utd shortlisth2>
Lewis-Skelly was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season but the 19-year-old has only made one Premier League start in this campaign, prompting doubts over his future.
Arsenal are believed to be open to Lewis-Skelly spending next season out on loan but they have previously resisted interest to sell the teenager permanently, having tied their homegrown talent to a five-year contract last summer.
United want to sign a left-back to compete with and eventually succeed Luke Shaw, leading to interest in Lewis-Skelly as well as Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown and Newcastle star Lewis Hall.
Enquiries are also thought to have been made over Alejandro Balde according to reports in Spain but the 22-year-old is not considering leaving Barcelona, while the Catalan side would also only be open to his departure for a significant fee.
Maguire hints at new Man Utd contract
Harry Maguire has opened up about his Manchester United future and believes he will extend his contract at Old Trafford, which is due to expire at the end of the season.
“I think we’ll reach an agreement on what is best for the club and myself. What that agreement is, I’m sure you’ll find out over the next few weeks. But yes, I think it’ll get sorted sooner rather than later, whether I stay or leave,” Maguire said.
“I love this club. But it’s got to be right for myself, and it’s got to be right for the club as well.
“I don’t want to be staying just because of sentimental reasons. I want to be staying because I want to be there, and the club want me to drive the club forward, and they feel like I’ve got a big part to play in it.
“And if that’s the case, then I’m sure we’ll sit down and agree on something.”
Arsenal defender White wanted
The England defender, who was recalled to the Three Lions squad for the March international break, has just two years remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium and he has been widely tipped to depart Mikel Arteta’s side during the upcoming summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Arsenal have reached an agreement to sell White if they receive a suitable offer this summer and TEAMtalk have confirmed that Everton and Manchester City are both interested in finalising a deal for the defender.
In addition, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd are also said to be monitoring developments ahead of a potential swoop following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
White is reportedly yet to receive an official approach from any interested club, although negotiations regarding a deal are expected to intensify over the next few months as Arsenal prepare for a possible sale.
United change stance over Rashford Barcelona deal
Manchester United have changed their stance over the future of Marcus Rashford in a move that will prompt a response from Barcelona.
Rashford had been sent on loan to the Camp Nou side last summer and, while his performances for Barcelona have been impressive, there is no guarantee that the Blaugrana will trigger his €30 million (£25.9m) purchase clause as they are under financial pressure.
Barcelona had planned to renegotiate terms with Man Utd to allow them to secure Rashford for at least another year. This included a plan to drive the England international’s purchase cost down or strike another loan agreement.
Man Utd have resisted these plans, and according to ESPN, are now open to retaining Rashford if Barca do not complete a deal for him.
Previously, it had been claimed that he would immediately be put up for sale by the Old Trafford side, but this fresh report indicates that there is the possibility of a longer-term plan.
Casemiro wanted by Inter Miami
Inter Miami and the LA Galaxy are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Casemiro this summer.
The Brazilian has announced that he will depart Old Trafford after the conclusion of the European season. Casemiro and Man Utd agreed to part ways, despite the player having a one-year extension in his contract that would have been triggered had he made 35 starts this term.
Back in February, Major League Soccer franchise Inter Miami were also associated with the former Real Madrid superstar. At the time, it seemed somewhat far-fetched, given that the Herons do not have the roster flexibility to sign a player of his calibre, unless he takes a huge pay cut.
However, The Athletic has now confirmed that there is genuine interest from David Beckham and Lionel Messi's club. It is, however, acknowledged that "salary cap magic" would be required to sign him.
