Chelsea make Liam Rosenior sack decision
Liam Rosenior is under huge pressure at Chelsea and he could reportedly be sacked if they fail to secure Champions League qualification this season.
The Blues were comfortably beaten 3-0 by a rampant Everton side on Saturday evening and they face an uphill battle to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition following back-to-back losses in the Premier League.
The reigning Club World Cup champions have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions and a large section of their fanbase have turned against Rosenior following the club’s form in recent weeks.
Chelsea are currently sixth in the English top flight table and they are only one point behind Liverpool in fifth, with the Reds suffering a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday lunchtime. However, they are now just five points clear of the Seagulls in 10th and with a tricky set of remaining fixtures, the Blues are looking over their shoulders.
Liam Rosenior to be sacked by Chelsea?
Chelsea have only kept three clean sheets in 19 games since the appointment of Rosenior and patience is beginning to run out, despite the fact the Englishman was handed a five-and-a-half year contract upon his arrival from Strasbourg.
In fact, according to transfer reporter Nicolo Schira, Rosenior could be sacked if Chelsea are unable to qualify for the 2026-27 Champions League. It’s claimed the Stamford Bridge board are unhappy with Rosenior’s performances as Chelsea head coach and another change of manager could be in store unless the Blues are able to enjoy a late-season renaissance after the March international break.
After an initial new manager bounce, Chelsea have regressed back towards their form during the latter stages of Enzo Maresca’s reign and they are without a goal in their last three matches, in addition to their defensive woes.
BlueCo could opt to hire current Strasbourg boss Gary O’Neil as a replacement for Rosenior this summer, while Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has also previously linked with a Stamford Bridge switch, although he is wanted by Athletic Club following confirmation that Ernesto Valverde will step down at the end of the season.
