A reliable journalist has announced that Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga "could leave" this summer amid reports that Liverpool are in talks over a swap deal for Alexis Mac Allister.

The France international has been with Los Blancos for almost half a decade now, yet Camavinga has been something of a hit-and-miss signing. To be sure, the €31 million Real Madrid paid for the wonderkid looked like a steal at the time, and he has been mostly a solid player.

However, the 23-year-old has not developed into the dominant midfielder most people expected him to become. This is only partly his fault, of course, as he has often been forced to play out of position, previously featuring at left-back.

A change of scenery may be necessary for Camavinga to fulfil his potential, and indeed, journalist Matteo Moretto suggests that a transfer in the summer can't be ruled out at this stage.

"He's not untouchable," Moretto told Radio MARCA. "There are already Premier League clubs interested in him. For now, Real Madrid haven't set a price, but it's clear they don't want to go below €50m."

Camavinga to Liverpool?

Liverpool are known to be long-standing admirers of Camavinga and teammate Aurelien Tchouameni. In fact, it was recently claimed that the Reds could look to make a move for the Frenchman this summer.

There is bound to be some significant midfield turnover at Anfield after this hugely disappointing season, with Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo expected to leave, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have been attracting the attention of suitors, including Real Madrid.

Last week, a report asserted that preliminary discussions between Liverpool and Real Madrid over a potential swap deal for Mac Allister and Camavinga were taking place.

Liverpool believe that the 23-year-old still has bags of potential, while Los Blancos value Mac Allister's experience in big games and at the international level, having won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022.

Mac Allister admitted last week that there are currently no contract talks with Liverpool, which fuelled the speculation that he may not stay on Merseyside long-term.

A lot will hinge on the outcome of the season. Liverpool need to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Galatasaray to stay in the Champions League, while Sunday's 1-1 draw with Spurs saw them squander the chance to pull clear of sixth-placed Chelsea.

After the game, Szoboszlai fumed that Liverpool will be lucky to even qualify for the Conference League if they keep playing like this. He is far from pleased with the current state of the club.

If the Reds miss out on Champions League football, their star midfielders Mac Allister and Szoboszlai could start looking for a way out.
