Enzo Fernandez edges closer to Chelsea exit
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez could reportedly leave the club this summer amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
The Argentina international has been linked with a Stamford Bridge exit for the best part of 12 months, but a departure could now be on the cards later this year as he assesses his options ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Fernandez has been earmarked as a top target by the Real Madrid hierarchy as they aim to sign a new central midfielder following their failure to replace Luka Modric last year, while PSG view him as a potential new signing to bolster the options available to Luis Enrique.
Reports in Spain indicate that Real Madrid are even willing to listen to offers for Eduardo Camavinga in order to raise transfer funds and free up space for Fernandez to arrive.
However, it has previously been stated that Chelsea have no intention of selling the 25-year-old. His current deal with the west London giants isn’t due to expire until 2032 and the Blues regard him as one of their most important players, alongside the likes of Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Reece James.
Enzo Fernandez could leave Chelsea this summer
While it has previously been claimed that Fernandez is happy at Chelsea, a summer exit is now a possibility, according to TyC Sports reporter Gaston Edul.
The Argentine journalist posted on X: “Enzo Fernandez has chances of leaving Chelsea in the next European summer transfer window.”
The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 44 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and it has been reported that he could look to leave Stamford Bridge in order to challenge for major honours on a regular basis.
Fernandez helped Chelsea win the inaugural summer Club World Cup last year, but they are currently 22 points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal and they are set to be dumped out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage following a 5-2 defeat to PSG in the first-leg.
