Liam Rosenior faces Chelsea sack amid 'serious concerns'
Liam Rosenior reportedly faces an uncertain future at Chelsea following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
The 41-year-old was appointed as the permanent replacement for Enzo Maresca in January, following an 18-month stint at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg, and he enjoyed a fairly successful start to life in west London.
Rosenior oversaw seven wins in his first nine matches in charge at Stamford Bridge and he also appeared to have addressed the Blues’ disciplinary problem upon his arrival, with the club avoiding a red card in his opening 11 fixtures at the helm.
However, Chelsea have now lost back-to-back matches in all competitions, versus Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle, while they only have three victories in their last eight matches - two of which came against Championship opposition in the FA Cup.
The atmosphere around Stamford Bridge has once again turned fairly sour and Rosenior is no longer settled in his position as Chelsea head coach.
That is according to renowned transfer reporter IndyKaila, who posted on X: “There are serious concerns brewing within Chelsea regarding manager Liam Rosenior.
“Sources indicate that some officials believe he won’t be at the helm next season. One key figure based in the USA is reportedly eyeing Luis Enrique as a potential replacement. This shift could mean a significant change for Rosenior, who might find himself returning to France if he’s let go.
“The pressure is mounting, and the stakes are high as Chelsea navigates this turbulent period. Fans are left wondering what this means for the club's future and the direction they’ll take moving forward.”
Chelsea to sack Liam Rosenior?
Rosenior has been at Chelsea for just over two months, but the club are seemingly dissatisfied by his start at Stamford Bridge and his long-term future with the Blues appears to be far from guaranteed.
If he is sacked, Rosenior would become the fifth permanent manager to lose their job since Clearlake Capital took over the club in 2022 and Chelsea would once again be required to find a replacement.
Andoni Iraola has been linked with the job previously and would likely be a strong candidate for the role, while Chelsea could instead opt to hire Gary O’Neil, who replaced Rosenior at Strasbourg earlier this year.
