Arsenal are 'showing signs' that they could sell Gabriel Martinelli this summer, according to a report.

The Gunners are in the midst of a potentially transformative period, with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta hard at work discussing transfers with several targets.

Arsenal are making progress in talks with striker Benjamin Sesko, while they are also expected to finalise the signing of midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Bolstering the flanks is another priority for the North London giants.

Arsenal are scouting the market for a potential backup to Bukayo Saka on the right and an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli on the left. Although far from an unreliable player, the Brazilian has struggled to consistently perform at the level expected of him.

Arteta remains a fan of the 23-year-old, whom he personally nurtured and made the player he is today. Indeed, in March, FootballTransfers reported that Arsenal were keen to keep Martinelli despite their pursuit of a left-winger, with Nico Williams their top target at the time.

Arsenal to fund Rodrygo with Martinelli sale?

However, a lot can change in three months, and Arsenal now appear to be focusing on a move for Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo, who has been described as their new priority target in recent days.

Signing Rodrygo over Williams would require a larger financial outlay, even if the latter isn't really a bargain either, due to his hefty wage demands.

Should Rodrygo decide to leave Real Madrid, he is expected to command a fee in the region of €100 million and a net salary of around €10m, which would make him Arsenal's top earner.

This means that there are some doubts over the feasibility of a move for the Brazilian, but GIVEMESPORTS suggests that Martinelli could be sacrificed to raise funds.

It is claimed that the Gunners star is being targeted by AC Milan, who are expected to part company with Rafael Leao after the Portuguese handed in a transfer request.

Arsenal have been linked with Leao, but at present, Bayern Munich's interest appears more advanced, even if German sources are playing down claims that bids have already been placed and face-to-face meetings been held.

The report asserts that Arsenal are 'showing signs' of potentially selling Martinelli, although Arteta is still not actively pushing him out. Still, the manager has 'stopped short of giving assurances that he will be kept at the Emirates Stadium,' it is claimed.
