Arsenal want €190m duo as Mikel Arteta targets new-look attack

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi and Brentford attacker Kevin Schade ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The Gunners hierarchy strengthened Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad with the signings of Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa, Piero Hincapie, Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier for a combined €227.1 million over the summer, but they remain eager to bolster their options next year as they look to build a squad capable of finally winning the Champions League for the first time ever.

Arsenal failed to land a superstar new attacker before the end of Deadline Day, following strong interest in Vinicius Junior, Morgan Rogers and Julian Alvarez, and they have widely tipped to dip back into the market for forward reinforcements next year.

Viktor Gyokeres has fallen down the pecking order after a slightly underwhelming first season at the club, while they failed to replace Gabriel Martinelli following his €70m transfer to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

As a result, Arsenal are monitoring a host of attacking options ahead of 2027 and Football.London report that Kroupi and Schade are both on the club’s radar.

Kroupi is currently sidelined through injury, but he scored 13 goals during his debut campaign in the Premier League last season and David Ornstein has previously revealed that a fee worth €115m (£100m) will be required to tempt Bournemouth into a sale amid his status as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.

Meanwhile, Schade has started the new season in fine form, netting three goals in four league games for Brentford, and it’s understood that a club-record fee will be needed to finalise a deal. That record is currently held by Bryan Mbeumo, thanks to his €75m move to Manchester United in 2025, and Arsenal would need to submit an offer in excess of that amount to secure his signature.

Will Arsenal sign a new forward in 2027?

Their failure to sign a replacement for Martinelli means that Arsenal are highly likely to pursue a new left winger next year, although they aren’t guaranteed to land a striker unless the aforementioned Gyokeres departs.

The Sweden international has lost his starting XI place to Kai Havertz this term and while he will still receive significant game time thanks to the number of games Arsenal will play this season, he could feasibly push to leave if he fails to work his way back into favour.

As a result, a move for Kroupi is only expected to happen if Gyokeres departs.
