Man Utd ready to agree deal for €62m star - on one condition

Manchester United are open to the possibility of selling Leny Yoro next summer if he fails to establish himself as a key player under Michael Carrick this season.

The Frenchman arrived at Old Trafford from Lille for €62 million in 2024, with the Red Devils fighting off significant competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid to win the race for his signature.

However, he has struggled to build on a promising start to his senior career in Ligue 1 and he is firmly behind Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez in the centre-back pecking order at Man Utd as things stand.

Yoro is yet to start a Premier League match this season, while his place at the club will come under even greater pressure once Matthijs de Ligt recovers from the back injury that has seen him miss close to 12 months of action.

TEAMtalk report that while Man Utd aren’t actively looking to sell Yoro, his place in the Red Devils’ squad is under threat, with the 20-year-old’s long-term future at the club far from guaranteed.

It’s claimed that Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Tiago Gabriel (Lecce) and Finn Jeltsch (Stuttgart) are all on the club’s radar as United eye defensive reinforcements in 2027, and Yoro could be sacrificed if he continues to play a peripheral role at Old Trafford this term.

The Red Devils currently remain committed to giving Yoro an opportunity to prove himself, but it’s understood that he will need to impress for the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign, otherwise a sale will be considered next summer.

Man Utd transfer update

In addition to Yoro, several other Man Utd stars are likely to depart the club in 2027, including Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte.

The former was heavily linked with an exit over the summer, but a credible suitor never emerged, while the latter was expected to be sold before suffering a serious knee injury while on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup.

Both players are highly likely to be sold next summer, with Man Utd set to pursue a new centre forward to replace Zirkzee.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are also expected to sign a new left-back, following their failure to finalise a deal for Newcastle United star Lewis Hall over the summer, and at least one central defender.
