CONFIRMED: Arsenal make second attempt to sign €70m France star
A second source has confirmed that Arsenal remain interested in Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Jean-Matteo Bahoya.
The Gunners attempted to sign the France youth international in early 2024 when it became clear that he was ready to leave his formative club Angers, but missed out on his signature to Frankfurt.
The Bundesliga side have a proven track record of turning raw youngsters into high-level players, so this appeared to be the best possible decision for Bahoya's nascent career.
However, things haven't quite gone to plan, as the 20-year-old has so far struggled to make his mark at Frankfurt. Bahoya has primarily been a substitute for the Eagles and is growing frustrated with his role.
Earlier this season, it looked as though the Frenchman could be set for a breakout campaign when he notched a brace on opening day against Werder Bremen, but he hasn't scored since.
Arsenal interest in Bahoya confirmed
Despite his struggles in Germany, a recent report from BILD claimed that Arsenal remain interested in the versatile attacker after missing out last year.
This has now been confirmed by Sky Germany. It is claimed that the Gunners have continued to keep tabs on Bahoya and that they could be interested in a 2026 transfer.
However, there is still a mutual desire between Bahoya and Frankfurt to make it work. Despite his frustrations, he is not desperate to leave, and the club's price tag suggests that they are also happy to keep him.
That is because the report asserts that Frankfurt have slapped a whopping €70 million asking price on Bahoya. Frankfurt are notoriously tough negotiators, but this is clearly an unrealistic fee even by their standards.
Bahoya has contributed to 11 goals in 59 appearances and currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €27.4m.
