Arsenal's FIRST 2026 signing confirmed
Arsenal are set to make Piero Hincapie their first signing of the 2026 summer transfer window by turning his loan move from Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent one.
The Ecuador international arrived in north London on a season-long loan deal on Transfer Deadline Day and he has established himself as a key member of Mikel Arteta’s squad in recent weeks after missing the first chunk of the season through injury.
Hincapie has been deployed at both centre-back and left-back since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal are already keen to sign him on a permanent deal next year, as per The Athletic.
The Gunners spent a whopping €293.5 million on new signings this summer and they were reportedly eager to avoid increasing this number during the same accounting period.
As a result, they opted to sign Hincapie on an initial loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent for a fee of €52m.
Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen are both able to trigger this clause next summer and the two clubs expect Hincapie to complete a permanent transfer to north London in 2026.
Arsenal have already taken steps to combat this expenditure by offloading Jakub Kiwior to FC Porto in a similar deal. The Poland international is currently on loan at Francesco Farioli’s side, however the transfer will become permanent for more than €27m next year.
Arsenal agree 2027 double deal
Meanwhile, Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle for a remarkable double signing in 2027.
The Gunners will sign Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Independiente del Valle, according to ESPN, who report that the 16-year-olds are in London to finalise the move, including the signing of their contracts.
The Gunners are not expected to announce the deal imminently, but the transfer will formally take place in August 2027, when the pair turn 18. They will join Victor Ozhianvuna in arriving at the club from Shamrock Rovers at the same time.
