Michael Olise is in contract talks with Bayern Munich which promise to be vital in the course of his career, and the France international is set to make a €200 million demand that will open the possibility of a return to the Premier League.

Olise has become one of the game’s most feared wingers since leaving Crystal Palace to sign for Bayern in a €53 million transfer in the summer of 2024. Since moving to Germany, he has scored 50 goals in 114 games and has also cemented his place as a starter for the France national team under Zinedine Zidane.

Despite his explosion in Germany, the 24-year-old was continuously linked with a move back to England during the summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool taking an interest in the player. Real Madrid were also tracking him.

While a move was rapidly ruled out, sparking fresh contract talks with Bayern, the winger clearly wants to keep his options open in the future, and even as discussions over a new deal progress, Olise has insisted on an exit clause.

Bundesliga expert Christian Falk has given an update on the situation via CFBayernInsider, explaining that there is not currently a release clause in his contract, but also indicating that they are open to putting one in if it keeps him at the club.

“The big question will be just how high the fee will be. At the moment, the feeling at Bayern Munich is that it has to be worth at least €200m,” he says.

“Perhaps it’s the case that this €200m could be the starting point in the first year and then it goes down in the years that follow. Both sides have ideas on this subject.”

Why a €200m Olise transfer is not far-fetched – and may even be a bargain

A demand of €200 million may seem enormous, yet in the context of Olise’s current level, it is far from outrageous – and indeed could be a bargain sooner rather than later.

Olise’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) will rise to €198m in October’s update, which is almost exactly the figure being discussed as a release clause.

Assuming the fallout from the Manchester City case is not too dramatic, it may be that Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea look at this figure and believe that Olise is worth signing at that price. After all, that’s the value that the data suggests he is worth. And that will only rise if he continues to sparkle this season, making a €200m deal even more attractive.

Of course, this would shatter the Premier League’s current transfer record, which was set when Alexander Isak left Newcastle for Liverpool in 2025 and then matched when Enzo Fernandez joined Manchester City from Chelsea a matter of weeks ago.

Should Olise sign a new Bayern Munich contract allowing him to leave for €200m, it may be just a matter of time before that figure is smashed.
