TRANSFER RUMOURS: Arsenal agree double deal as Chelsea submit €70m winger bid
The winter transfer window will officially open next month and clubs across world football are now beginning to ramp up negotiations ahead of January.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 1 December, including the latest updates on Arsenal and Chelsea.
Arsenal double deal
Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle for a remarkable double signing in 2027.
The Gunners will sign Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero from Independiente del Valle, according to ESPN, which reports that the 16-year-olds are in London to finalise the move, including the signing of their contracts.
The Gunners are not expected to announce the deal imminently, but the transfer will formally take place in August 2027, when the pair turn 18. They will join Victor Ozhianvuna in arriving at the club from Shamrock Rovers at the same time.
Harvey Barnes to Chelsea or Man Utd?
Chelsea and Manchester United are both targeting one of the most in-form players in the Premier League ahead of the January transfer window.
Newcastle United star Harvey Barnes has become a target for both giants, who view the Englishman as a potential strategic signing, according to Fichajes.
His speed, dribbling and scoring power is appreciated by both sides and they have each submitted a bid worth €70 million (£60m), the report claims.
Jurgen Klopp makes Liverpool return decision
Jurgen Klopp reportedly won’t be returning to Liverpool, despite rumours suggesting that he could replace Arne Slot at Anfield.
The Telegraph claims that while Slot is under pressure, if the Dutchman does leave, it will not pave the way for Klopp to make an unlikely return.
Furthermore, although it is stressed that Slot is “not immune” from the sack, Liverpool’s owners FSG are willing to be patient with the Dutchman.
Real Madrid chase Arsenal transfer
Real Madrid are set to step up their pursuit of Arsenal superstar Declan Rice as they look to finalise the signing of a new central midfielder in 2026.
That is according to Spanish publication E-Noticies, who claim that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes Rice would be an excellent addition for the 15-time Champions League winners and he is keen to attempt a pursuit of his signature.
The England star thoroughly impressed chief Real Madrid scout Juni Calafat with his Man of the Match performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and Los Blancos are hoping to engage in discussions over a possible transfer soon.
Assan Ouedraogo battle
Arsenal and Barcelona have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo in 2026.
The Germany midfielder was linked with several Premier League clubs during his time at Schalke and Sky Sports have confirmed that Chelsea and Manchester United are already scouting him ahead of next summer.
Furthermore, Sport Bild have now revealed that Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool have also sent officials to watch him in action so far this season as they eye a possible 2026 transfer.
Man City want Elliot Anderson
Manchester City are formulating a plan to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest in a blockbuster 2026 move.
Man Utd have notably been linked with a move for the central midfielder, but Sky Sport Switzerland reports that City are “in love” with Anderson, with Hugo Viana having watched the Forest star “more than 10 times” this season.
The former Newcastle star, meanwhile, has told his agent and those close to him that he is prioritising a move to the Etihad club.
