Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmoller has revealed that he dreams of managing Manchester United one day.

The beleaguered Red Devils continue to be a club in crisis. Under-fire head coach Ruben Amorim managed to give himself some breathing space by beating Chelsea in a crazy game at the weekend, but he remains under pressure.

Man Utd are hesitant to sack another coach less than a year after firing Erik ten Hag, so they continue to back Amorim. INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has, however, made it clear to the 40-year-old that he must deliver European football this season.

Whether Amorim will be able to do so remains to be seen. The signs have so far been inauspicious, but the Old Trafford faithful can hope that the Chelsea victory will spur the side on to a sustained run of good form.

Despite Amorim being safe - for now - the media has already linked Man Utd with several potential replacements, such as Crystal Palace hero Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth mastermind Andoni Iraola.

Now, Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller has also thrown his hat in the ring by revealing that he dreams of one day taking charge of Man Utd.

In an interview with BILD, the German spoke about his journey into coaching and following in the footsteps of his father, Klaus, who also managed Frankfurt.

“Basically, it’s a dream to be at Eintracht now,” he said. “It’s simply a fantastic club. Here, as a teenager, I witnessed for the first time that my father was a Bundesliga coach. That naturally creates an emotional bond with a club."

Intriguingly, he was then drawn to the topic of potentially venturing outside of Germany again, having previously earned his spurs in Luxembourg and Belgium.

“Thinking about abroad, I often played computer games as a child, always with one team: Manchester United. That would definitely be nice someday, because it’s an extraordinary club. When I was a teenager, Manchester United was, along with Real Madrid, the biggest club of all.”

A far-fetched dream or soon-to-be reality? Time will tell, but there is no denying that Toppmoller's stocks have risen due to his work with Eintracht.

Already highly rated during his time as an assistant to Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig and Bayern, the 44-year-old led Frankfurt to their first-ever Champions League qualification via the Bundesliga last season.

The current campaign started off well, too, with the Eagles flying high domestically and demolishing Galatasaray 5-1 in the opening fixture of the Champions League.

However, Toppmoller's young side, stacked with elite prospects such as Can Uzun, Hugo Larsson, Nnamdi Collins, Nathaniel Brown and Kaua Santos, have lost their previous two Bundesliga games with some naive performances, which is to be expected to some extent after fielding a starting XI with an average age of 23.2 years at the weekend.
