Vini Jr sends clear contract message to Real Madrid
Vinicius Junior put the noise surrounding his Real Madrid contract extension behind him to score his third goal of the season in a La Liga clash with Levante and send a clear message to the Bernabeu board.
The future of the 25-year-old is increasingly being played out in the press, with the latest claims suggesting that a January transfer could be possible for the unhappy Vini Jr.
It is claimed that he is dissatisfied with the role he has been given by new head coach Xabi Alonso as he is much less important within the framework of the squad than he has been used to.
Vini is reportedly ready to cut his wage demands in order to sign a new contract with Real Madrid, but the latest reports indicate that negotiations have stalled for the moment. This has put a potential blockbuster move to the Saudi Pro League back on the agenda.
With public opportunities to speak his mind limited, Vini let his football do the talking against Levante in a 4-1 win on Tuesday. He scored one and created another for Franco Mastantuono in the rout as Real Madrid preserved their perfect start to the season.
It was his celebration that really caught the eye, however. After netting the opening goal, he ran towards the corner and kissed the Real Madrid badge on his shirt in a clear show of allegiance to the Bernabeu side.
Vini has to win over the board
While Los Blancos’ directors will welcome Vini Jr’s clear love of the club, there are concerns about his attitude, and he will need to prove himself to be a clean-cut figure for some months before their trust is won back.
FootballTransfers exclusively reported that the Real Madrid board have grown frustrated with what they perceived to be games from the Brazil international attacker during contract talks earlier this year.
It has even been claimed that Los Blancos "don't care" if Vini Jr leaves the club as a free agent when his contract expires in 2027. This remains a situation to watch.
