Estevao provides Chelsea transfer update amid exit rumours

Estevao Willian has played down rumours suggesting that he could explore a Chelsea exit next year amid his lack of game time under new manager Xabi Alonso so far this season.
The Brazil wonderkid, who joined Chelsea from Palmeiras last summer, is yet to start a Premier League match this term and he has racked up just 23 minutes of action across the opening five rounds of the new English top flight campaign.

Estevao is firmly behind Cole Palmer in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, while Pedro Neto has been favoured in a wing-back role, with the 20-year-old suffering from Alonso’s decision to use a 3-4-2-1 formation during the early weeks of the season.
It has been reported that Estevao is growing frustrated by his lack of opportunities under the new Chelsea boss and rumours suggest that he could look to leave the west London giants next year if his situation doesn’t improve.
Several top European clubs are keeping close tabs on Estevao’s lack of game time at Stamford Bridge and the Blues will likely receive significant transfer interest if he decides to actively push for a transfer when the winter window opens.
However, the Brazil winger has played down rumours suggesting that he is discontent at Chelsea and has insisted that he will continue to work hard in training in a bid to earn Alonso’s trust.
“I think every coach has their own way of playing,” Estevao told ESPN while on Brazil duty during the September international break.
“Of course, we work every day, I give my best every day, and that's what I do. We have quality players at Chelsea, so what I do is focus on what I can control, I try to give my best in training, when I get an opportunity I try to give my best, it goes day after day.
“I try to seize every opportunity I have, I try to control everything I can and I leave it in God's hands, and I trust myself a lot too.”
Estevao unlikely to leave Chelsea
Estevao scored eight goals in 36 games across all competitions during his debut campaign at Chelsea, including a last-minute winner versus Liverpool and a stunning strike against Barcelona in the Champions League.
As a result, his camp are keen for him to continue his development by playing regular football at Chelsea, but a sale is unlikely to be finalised even if he fails to work his way into Alonso’s favoured starting XI.
Estevao has a whopping seven years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge and while he is yet to establish himself as a key player under Alonso, the Chelsea hierarchy still value him as one of their best future assets.
