Transfer Rumours: Guimaraes to Man Utd twist as Chelsea join four-club battle
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours from 25 March, including the latest updates on Bruno Guimaraes, Enzo Fernandez and Karim Coulibaly.
Guimaraes to Man Utd truth
On Tuesday, it was claimed that Man Utd had reached an agreement on personal terms with Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has supposedly emerged as a key target ahead of the summer.
However, journalist Andy Mitten now reports that the situation surrounding the Brazilian is remarkably quiet. He is not aware of concrete interest from the Old Trafford club, let alone of any kind of agreement.
On the contrary, he posits that the links with Man Utd originate from the player's camp. "I saw the Bruno Guimaraes story recently. I have not heard anything from my sources on that," he said.
"I was up in Newcastle last week and I didn’t hear anything there. I suspect, but cannot prove, that it is coming more from his side in regards to negotiating a new contract."
Chelsea interested in Koulibaly
Chelsea have joined at least four other clubs in the race to sign Werder Bremen wonderkid Karim Coulibaly, according to BILD.
The 18-year-old centre-back has been a standout performer in a very poor team this season and is attracting widespread attention. Coulibaly is fully expected to depart the club this summer.
Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring his situation, but Marseille, Napoli, Newcastle and PSG are also said to be keen on the talented youngster. Indeed, the report asserts that "half of Europe" are chasing him.
Man Utd eye Robinson
Man Utd have added Fulham star Antonee Robinson to their left-back shortlist, according to Football Insider.
The Red Devils are exploring the market for left-sided defenders and have earmarked the American as one of several potential options, alongside Lewis Hall and Alphonso Davies.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are not expected to make a move for the 28-year-old despite holding a long-standing interest, as he no longer fits the age profile of players they want to sign.
Fernandez dreams of Real Madrid
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez "dreams" of joining Real Madrid this summer, talkSPORT claims.
The Argentina international is open to leaving Chelsea this summer, having grown frustrated with the club's lack of competitiveness in the Champions League and Premier League.
Real Madrid have long been linked with the 25-year-old, but they have yet to make a final decision on midfield targets. PSG and Al-Ittihad keen on Fernandez, but the feeling is not necessarily mutual.
Barcelona want Bastoni
Barcelona have made Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni their top target for the centre-back position this summer, as per The Athletic.
Club sources believe that the Italy international would be keen on making the move to Catalunya, but there are concerns over the potential cost of the operation.
Inter, naturally, do not want to lose their superstar defender and will demand top dollar to allow him to leave. With a contract until 2028, they are not yet under pressure to let him walk away on the cheap.
