Roberto De Zerbi picks his first Tottenham signing
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old has enjoyed an excellent spell in Turkey, following his arrival from Norwich City in 2024, and he has scored six goals and provided three assists in 39 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 season so far.
His form has unsurprisingly attracted interest from multiple top European clubs, and Spurs are eager to win the race for his signature if they avoid relegation down to the Championship this season.
The north London outfit are currently languishing down in 17th place in the Premier League table, one point ahead of West Ham United in the relegation zone, but they have already begun planning their potential summer business following the permanent appointment of Roberto De Zerbi.
The Italian has been handed a five-year contract by the Tottenham hierarchy and the club are ready to back him in the transfer market if they escape what would be a devastating relegation.
Tottenham want Gabriel Sara
Tottenham currently have seven central midfielders in their first-team squad, but Joao Palhinha is set to return to Bayern Munich following the conclusion of his loan spell, while Yves Bissouma will become a free agent when his contract expires in July.
As a result, Spurs are eager to bolster their options in the middle of the park and they have identified Sara as a player who could become De Zerbi’s first signing at the club.
That is according to CaughtOffside, who claim that Tottenham have initiated contact with Sara’s representatives ahead of this summer, with the Brazilian open to a Premier League switch.
Galatasaray are keen to retain the 26-year-old this summer, but they will reportedly sanction a sale if they receive an offer worth €45 million. It remains to be seen if Spurs are willing to match this asking price, but they are expected to intensify their pursuit of Sara’s signature over the coming months.
