Arsenal Transfer News Today: Brazil star admits Gunners dream with Calafiori 'keen' on exit
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Gabriel Martinelli, Riccardo Calafiori and Christian Kofane.
Martinelli sale 'increasingly likely’
Arsenal are "increasingly likely" to sell Gabriel Martinelli this summer, according to a report.
Arsenal will not actively force Martinelli out, but if the right offer is presented, they will look to sell. His current contract runs until 2027, but with the option for a further season. Waiting another year would diminish his value or force the club into handing him an extension.
There is no shortage of interest in his services. Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move recently, and they are indeed keen on him. Additionally, Martinelli is said to be courted by Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and RB Leipzig.
Al-Nassr also have a strong and long-standing interest in the winger, but the winger previously rebuffed the Saudi club's advances as he wanted to remain in Europe. It is understood that, if he is to leave this summer, he wants to join a Champions League outfit.
Atletico Madrid target double Arsenal signing
Diego Simeone’s side are seeking to recruit Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli from the North London side, according to Fichajes.
Atletico Madrid want to strengthen their attack with the Premier League pair as they brace themselves for the departure of two vital players.
Antoine Griezmann will leave the Wanda Metropolitano for Orlando City in MLS, and while Alexander Sorloth’s destination is currently unclear, the Norway international will also depart.
Gabriel Jesus is seen as the player who would come in and replace the Norwegian, offering versatility and guile.
The loss of Griezmann, meanwhile, is set to prompt a reshuffle that will free up space on the left wing, offering Martinelli a space to exploit.
Gunners interested in Bundesliga wonderkid
Arsenal are monitoring wonderkid Christian Kofane after his impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen this season.
Kofane only joined Leverkusen last summer for €5m from Albacete and the 19-year-old has netted five times in his debut campaign for the German giants.
According to Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, a number of English sides are interested in Kofane as well as Real Madrid, who are said to be keeping an eye on the striker.
Leverkusen would allegedly demand €60-70m to part ways with the Cameroonian this summer and contact is continuing to be made with the player’s agent ahead of the transfer window.
Calafiori 'keen' on Italy return
Riccardo Calafiori is reportedly ‘keen’ to return to Italy after falling behind Piero Hincapie in the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.
Calafiori has only joined Arsenal last summer and the 23-year-old has featured in 22 Premier League games this season but only three of his last eight appearances have been starts.
Chelsea are believed to be interested in Calafiori although Arsenal have no desire to sell the defender to their rivals and there is nothing advanced, nor has the player requested to leave despite his desire for more game time and an eventual return to Italy.
“Calafiori isn’t pushing to leave Arsenal, but he’s fallen behind Piero Hincapie in the pecking order this season, so Inter feel it’s a deal that would be worth exploring,” a source told CaughtOffside. “He’s keen to return to Italy at some point, and though this is a bit sooner than expected, it can’t be ruled out for this summer.”
Brazil star wants Arsenal move
Brazil star Luis Henrique has admitted he would love to play for Arsenal one day and has already spoken to Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Maghalhaes about the team.
Henrique, who has previously made similar comments, currently plays for Zenit St Petersburg and could feature for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup.
"I really like Arsenal, the way they play, aggressive. They play a lot on the left and right, so I'm keen to play for Arsenal," he said.
"I've already spoken to Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli, they say the team is excellent, they really like (coach) Arteta, they say he's always listening to the players. God willing, I'd like to have the opportunity to work with him."
