Chelsea Transfer News Today: Trent Alexander-Arnold latest as blockbuster deal is 'inevitable'
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alex Scott.
Trent Alexander-Arnold latest
Chelsea are among the teams keeping close tabs on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Real Madrid ahead of a possible approach next year, as per TEAMtalk.
The England international still has over four-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at the Bernabeu, but he has only started four matches so far this season and it’s claimed that he is already considering his future at the club.
Alexander-Arnold is happy in Madrid, however he is reportedly growing frustrated by his lack of game time under new boss Jose Mourinho and it’s understood that Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are all interested in finalising a deal.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will consider offers for the 28-year-old if he fails to work his way into Mourinho’s preferred starting XI.
Alex Scott deal ‘inevitable’
Bournemouth star Alex Scott wants to join Chelsea and a move to Stamford Bridge is now “inevitable”, according to transfer reporter Simon Phillips.
The England international was heavily pursued by Xabi Alonso’s side over the summer and they are set to intensify their pursuit of his signature ahead of the January window, with Bournemouth believed to be amenable to a sale if their valuation is met.
It’s reported that Alonso is a huge fan of Scott, while the 23-year-old has set his sights on completing a move to Chelsea.
Florian Wirtz decision
Liverpool star Florian Wirtz has been linked with a surprise move to Chelsea in recent weeks, but he has no intention of joining the Blues.
Wirtz has struggled since his arrival at Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen and rumours indicate that Alonso is keen to reunite with the Germany international following their fruitful spell together at the BayArena.
However, CaughtOffside report that Wirtz has no intention of leaving Liverpool to join Chelsea, despite his underwhelming form for Andoni Iraola’s side.
Jordan Henderson hits back
Jordan Henderson has hit back at critics following an eye-catching start to life at Chelsea following his arrival on a free transfer from Brentford.
Asked about those who criticised Chelsea’s decision to sign him this summer following the club’s win over Everton on Saturday, Henderson admitted (via Football.London): “Obviously, everyone around football talks whether that is the media or whatever. And, yeah, maybe that was the thought process, but I never felt that from Chelsea.
“From the minute that I spoke to them, and the manager, and the club, I still felt like they wanted me to help on the field. So that's all I try and do, and that's all the focus is on really, to be honest.
“In football there are going to be so many different opinions, so many people saying things and, for me, I just try and use it as fuel, use it as energy, to prove people wrong again. I just want to do my work and my business on the pitch. That's where I do my talking really.”
Oliver Mansson brushes off interest
IFK Goteborg wonderkid Oliver Mansson has named his dream club amid links with Arsenal and Chelsea.
When asked about interest from both Premier League giants, Mansson told Expressen: "No, I had no idea. I saw it on social media like everyone else. So, no, I didn't know that."
Questioned on which of the two London sides he would prefer to join, he laughed and insisted that "it's hard to choose."
In response, Mansson was then asked if there is an English team he supports, and he replied: "No, I actually don't. I don't. It's been Barca for me, but, well, it's always fun to have interest if there's something. It's the way it is."
