Arsenal Transfer News Today: Signing greenlit as Rio Ngumoha talks progress
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Rio Ngumoha, Nicolo Tresoldi and Oliver Mansson.
Ngumoha closing in on extension
Arsenal target Rio Ngumoha is close to signing a new contract at Liverpool.
The teenage winger has emerged as a possible option for the Gunners in their search for attacking reinforcements, but Liverpool have no intention of selling. They are working on a new long-term deal, and discussions are progressing well.
Speaking to the media after Liverpool's 2-1 win over Brentford at the weekend, Ngumoha said: "It's all with my agent now. I think it is all going well. I am not too sure. I just let the football do the talking, I enjoy playing, and all of that is in the back of my mind.
"I just play for Liverpool, and hopefully I can carry on doing well."
Tresoldi signing on?
Arsenal hold a key advantage over AC Milan in the race to sign Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, according to Carlo Pellegatti.
The 22-year-old is being monitored by numerous elite clubs after impressing in Belgium. Tresoldi was already on Arsenal's radar last season, and the Gunners are believed to still be following him amid uncertainty over Viktor Gyokeres' future.
Despite Tresoldi being a boyhood AC Milan fan, Pellegatti thinks it unlikely that the Cagliari-born Germany youth international will play for the Rossoneri anytime soon. The finances of the deal and the competition make a move to England more realistic.
Brugge are demanding north of €40 million for him, which Milan can't justify spending on another striker after shelling out €74m on Goncalo Ramos this summer. This makes Arsenal one of the favourites for his signing.
Mansson dreams of... Barcelona
IFK Goteborg midfielder Oliver Mansson has revealed that he is a Barcelona supporter.
The 17-year-old was recently linked with Arsenal and Chelsea following his impressive emergence in Sweden. He became a guaranteed starter over the summer, and his introduction has coincided with a huge uptick in positive results for Goteborg.
Speaking to Expressen at the weekend, Mansson was quizzed about the supposed interest from Arsenal and divulged that he only found out about it via social media. He seemingly doesn't put much stock in the rumours.
When asked to choose between Arsenal, Chelsea or any other English team, he couldn't answer. His dream club is Barcelona.
Vinicius boost?
Real Madrid star Yan Diomande has piled the pressure on Arsenal target Vinicius Jr with his performance at the weekend.
The Ivorian started on the left wing in the absence of Vini Jr, who is serving a four-match suspension in LaLiga, and it was by far his best display in a Real Madrid shirt to date. By contrast, Vinicius has come in for fierce criticism for his form this season.
There have been growing calls for Jose Mourinho to drop the Brazilian. The manager even admitted at the weekend that he would have forced a move this summer if he had been in Vinicius' shoes.
Arsenal wanted to sign him, and they may be presented with an opportunity to reignite their interest next year if Vinicius' situation does not improve.
Kroupi the most improved
Bournemouth forward Eli Kroupi is the most improved player in the world over the last six months, as per the algorithm of analytics firm SciSports.
The 20-year-old was a key target for Arsenal in the summer after he scored 13 goals in his first season of Premier League football. A move was impossible because of injury and Bournemouth's unwillingness to sell, but Kroupi will be one to watch in 2027 if he is able to recapture his pre-injury form.
According to SciSports, the Frenchman has come on leaps and bounds this year. In fact, Real Madrid striker Carlos Espi is the only other player in world football with at least a basic Premier League skill level to have developed as rapidly as Kroupi over the past six to 12 months.
