Man Utd Transfer News Today: Tonali shock as €30m problem emerges
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Sandro Tonali, Marcus Rashford and Charlie Cresswell.
Tonali offered to Real Madrid
Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been offered to Real Madrid via his representatives, TEAMtalk reports.
The Italy international is one of Man Utd's priority targets for the midfield heading into the summer, but signing him will prove difficult because of the interest from various other suitors.
Real Madrid are known to also be in the market for a midfielder, while Man City are pushing hard to sign the 25-year-old. Tonali's camp are stepping up their efforts to secure a summer move for the player.
Rashford problem emerges
Barcelona missed the deadline by which they were supposed to inform Man Utd of whether or not they would activate Marcus Rashford's €30 million purchase option, Cadena Ser claims.
This means that any deal can now only come about through fresh negotiations for the England star, casting doubt on the transfer for the time being, as Man Utd are now in control of the situation.
However, Barcelona believe that the situation actually benefits them because they know that Rashford's sole desire is to stay at the club long-term. They hope that this will allow them to push the final price for him down.
Man Utd eye Cresswell
Man Utd are "emerging as frontrunners" to sign Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, as per TEAMtalk.
The England youth international has impressed in Ligue 1 and is likely to return across the Channel this summer. Cresswell came through Leeds' youth setup, but it is hated rivals Man Utd who are leading the race for him.
Cresswell is deemed an affordable option to bolster the defence, as it is currently believed that Toulouse could be prepared to sell him for as little as €30m in the upcoming window.
More clubs keen on Ugarte
Out-of-favour Man Utd midfielder Manuel Ugarte will have no shortage of suitors this summer, according to Ovacion.
The Uruguayan outlet has been able to confirm that representatives from Juventus watched the 24-year-old in action for his country against Algeria at the Bianconeri's home stadium on Tuesday.
Additionally, Aston Villa and Newcastle are also credited with a long-standing interest in the midfielder, while Atletico Madrid also previously attempted to sign him.
Man Utd face Onana concern
Loaned out Man Utd goalkeeper Andre Onana is in line for a substantial pay rise if the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League, according to ESPN.
This is a considerable issue, as it could complicate the club's attempts to offload the Cameroon international. Onana does not have a future at Old Trafford, and Man Utd will try to sell him.
Finding a suitor willing to pay his hefty salary could prove difficult, creating an unwanted headache for INEOS chiefs. Should they fail to find a club willing to buy him, they would have to send him out on loan again and likely pay a decent chunk of his salary.
