Man Utd Transfer News Today: Arsenal star offered after 'concerns' over top summer target
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Sandro Tonali, Bruno Fernandes and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Man Utd have Tonali ‘concerns’
The likes of United, Manchester City and Arsenal have all been linked with a move, but, with Tonali still having more than three years remaining on his contract, Newcastle are expected to demand significantly more than the €60 million they spent on the 25-year-old in 2023.
And, according to The Athletic, the price of a deal may hinder Tonali’s chances of moving to United and other midfield options are being considered, with Elliot Anderson still the club’s top target.
However, it has been revealed that Tonali was identified as a ‘priority target’ for United last summer and a deal was ‘briefly explored’ but the costs prevented a move from progressing.
There are also said to be ‘concerns’ from some at United over the gambling issues which saw Tonali banned for ten months in 2023, leading to doubts that the Newcastle star will join the Red Devils this summer.
Fernandes contract in works
The Portugal international has less than 18 months remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford and he has been widely tipped to depart the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old has attracted the attention of Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fichajes. It’s claimed that Luis Enrique is keen to bring Fernandes to the Parc des Princes to form an all-Portuguese midfield trio with Vitinha and Joao Neves, and the Ligue 1 giants are reportedly in contact with the Man Utd star’s representatives ahead of a potential swoop.
However, Michael Carrick’s side will not sanction a sale unless they receive an offer of at least €70m, despite the fact Fernandes will be able on a Bosman deal in 2027.
It’s understood that Man Utd want to finalise a new deal with their club captain rather than sanction a sale, but he has been identified as a priority target by the PSG hierarchy ahead of this summer.
Lewis-Skelly offered to Man Utd
Lewis-Skelly was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season after a breakthrough campaign but he has made just one league start in since then and only played 313 minutes.
United are hoping to sign a long-term successor to Luke Shaw at left-back this summer and, according to the Daily Mail, Lewis-Skelly is under consideration by Old Trafford chiefs after being offered to the club by intermediaries.
The surprising revelation suggests that Lewis-Skelly is in search of a move this summer in order to find more first team football, particularly with Riccardo Calafiori and the now-permanently signed Piero Hincapie ahead of him in the Arsenal pecking order.
While Arsenal are reluctant to permanently sell an academy graduate who is still highly-rated by Mikel Arteta, their hand may be forced if Lewis-Skelly looks to push for an exit, with United ready to pounce in such an occasion.
Maguire renewal agreed
The England international, who was recalled by Thomas Tuchel for the March international break, is currently set to become a free agent in July, but Man Utd are on the verge of officially extending his deal by a further 12 months.
That is according to Romano, who posted on Instagram: “Here we go! Harry Maguire, set to sign [a] new deal at Man United until June 2027.
“Verbal agreement in place with Maguire and United set to put pen to paper before the end of the season. The agreement will also include an option on club side to extend the contract until June 2028 - if United want.”
Ugarte set for exit
The Uruguay international is expected to be on the move this summer after failing to live up to the hype at Man Utd. Signed for €50 million in 2024, Ugarte has proved a hugely disappointing signing.
Accordingly, a change of scenery is on the cards after this season. Ugarte has been fielding interest from Serie A clubs for a year, and it seems a move to Italy is likely.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus, in particular, are very keen on signing the 24-year-old. Indeed, their interest in him dates back to his Sporting CP days. They previously attempted to sign him on loan from PSG and Man Utd.
Ronaldo pushes for Casemiro signing
The Brazil midfielder will leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of June, and he has been widely tipped to complete a Bosman move to MLS outfit Inter Miami.
However, Ronaldo wants to hijack the proposed deal by finalising an agreement for Casemiro to become Al-Nassr’s latest superstar signing.
That is according to Spanish publication Marca, who claim that Ronaldo has taken the initiative by contacting Casemiro in an attempt to convince him to complete a move to the Saudi Pro League side in July.
However, Inter Miami are also determined to sign Casemiro on a Bosman deal following the retirement of Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets at the end of the 2025 MLS season.
