Arsenal Transfer News Today: Secret wonderkid signing as Man Utd battle erupts
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Nico Paz, Riccardo Calafiori and Leon Goretzka.
Sneaky wonderkid signing announced
Arsenal have completed the signing of teenage defender Beau Luton, formerly of Wingate & Finchley.
The club have announced that their U15s will jet off to China next month to take part in the Next Gen Beijing Cup. Squirrelled away in the statement is that Luton will travel with Craig Smith's squad.
The youngster will be eligible to sign a scholarship contract with the Gunners in the summer of 2007. "The players are buzzing about it," Smith said of the upcoming trip.
"Most of us have never been to China before, so that's a really good experience to be able to give these players, and then, on top of that, competitive football in some great stadiums we're going to be playing in.
Man Utd "make moves" for Goretzka
Man Utd have started to "make moves" for the free transfer signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Germany international is also on Arsenal's radar, and recent reports from Italy have suggested that he is keen on a move to the Premier League amid strong interest from Serie A.
Arsenal explored a transfer for him late in the January window, and it is thought that they remain interested in the 31-year-old serial winner. Goretzka is said to be asking for a €7 million per season salary.
Paz snubs Arsenal
Arsenal have seen an approach for Como superstar Nico Paz rebuffed, CaughtOffside claims.
The Gunners wanted to open talks over a potential deal for the Argentina international, but Paz made it clear that he has his heart set on returning to Real Madrid this summer.
The LaLiga giants can re-sign the attacking midfielder for just €9m, which is nothing compared to the fee Arsenal would have had to pay had the player decided to make the move to North London.
Inter chase Calafiori
Inter have identified Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori as their priority target to replace Alessandro Bastoni, as per L'Interista.
Bastoni is being strongly courted by Barcelona and is understood to be keen on making the move to Catalunya this summer, so the Nerazzurri have been forced to seek out potential replacements.
Calafiori is Inter's preferred option. The Italian publication even suggests that Arsenal could sell him for as little as €50m, despite signing him for just under €44m in 2024.
