Matanovic talks

Man Utd are holding internal discussions over the possible signing of SC Freiburg striker Igor Matanovic, TEAMtalk claims.

The Red Devils are one of six Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old's exploits in the Bundesliga, with Matanovic having enjoyed a strong calendar year so far.

The Croatia international was already considered a possible Joshua Zirkzee replacement in the summer. However, signing him will not be easy, as Freiburg are under no pressure to sell and value Matanovic at €60 million.

Jeltsch battle

Man Utd face competition from Barcelona and AC Milan in the race to sign Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch, Sacha Tavolieri writes.

The Old Trafford club are monitoring the 20-year-old, who is quickly becoming one of the Bundesliga's biggest prospects and who was part of Jurgen Klopp's senior Germany squad during this international break.

Man Utd are likely to sign a new centre-back in 2027, especially if they were to offload one of their current options such as Leny Yoro, who is attracting interest from AC Milan, as per Calciomercato.

Balde still an option

Man Utd remain interested in Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, Mundo Deportivo insists.

The former Spain international was briefly considered in the summer, but the Red Devils ultimately baulked at the financial package required to sign him. Moreover, they were unwilling to make a permanent move.

However, with top target Lewis Hall having signed a fresh Newcastle contract, the club's stance on signing Balde may soften, particularly as he could be a market opportunity in January due to his lack of minutes this season.

Gabriel latest

Man Utd wonderkid JJ Gabriel is almost guaranteed to move abroad after requesting to have his registration cancelled, Sky Germany and talkSPORT report.

Gabriel has rebuffed approaches from Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern are the current frontrunners for his signature, while PSG are lurking in the background.

Gabriel is now 16 and eligible to move abroad. The report from Germany claims that the youngster is actually in the process of getting a Cypriot passport, not an Irish one. This should be finalised imminently.

Gabriel's camp, led by agent Ali Barat, held fresh talks with Bayern on Monday after first meeting with the club in May. New discussions are also planned with Barcelona and Real Madrid. Any transfer would only be formally completed in January.

Bayern are sceptical about their chances of landing Gabriel because of concerns over his financial demands, with the teenager's entourage requesting a salary over €1m and an "exorbitant" sign-on fee. Barcelona and Real Madrid are more inclined to give in to these demands.

Fernandes keen to stay

Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes has shown no willingness to leave the club, Dean Jones understands.

The Portugal international has fielded interest from Saudi Arabia on an annual basis since 2023, but he repeatedly rebuffed the overtures from the Middle East because he wants to keep playing at the highest level.

Fernandes is expected to receive fresh offers next summer, but his priority is staying at Man Utd. The Red Devils will, however, have to finalise a contract agreement before the end of the season or run the risk of losing their captain.

Man Utd eye Spurs talent

Man Utd are one of several suitors keen to sign Tottenham teenager Luca Williams Barnett, according to Sky Germany.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder made his senior debut last year, but he has only made one first-team appearance since, which has prompted clubs to start exploring a possible transfer.

Borussia Dortmund are keen to make him their latest young English star, while Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City have also shown an interest, although the latter are unlikely to be an attractive option given their ongoing legal battle with the Premier League.
