Manchester United's pursuit of Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has just become more complicated as the player has also been offered to Real Madrid.
The Italy international, who missed out on a third consecutive World Cup with his country on Tuesday, looks set for a new challenge this summer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League's best midfielders at Newcastle.
A January transfer was briefly explored as Tonali was offered to Arsenal, who were in the market for a replacement for the injured Mikel Merino. However, there was no chance of such a major deal materialising late in the window.

It is likely to be a different story this summer. While Newcastle remain firm in their stance that they want to keep the 25-year-old, Tonali is clearly ready to move on, especially if the Magpies miss out on European football.
In recent weeks, the Italian has been linked with virtually every big club under the sun, though it is understood that Arsenal and Man Utd, in particular, are keenly watching the midfielder's situation.
Tonali offered to Real Madrid
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tonali features prominently on the Red Devils' midfield shortlist, and a move to Old Trafford would perhaps make more sense than one to Arsenal, given how stacked Mikel Arteta's midfield already is.
However, Tonali is not necessarily only looking at other Premier League clubs. The former AC Milan star is also open to a move abroad, as evidenced by TEAMtalk reporting that his representatives have now also offered him to Real Madrid.
It is claimed that Tonali's camp are "stepping up their efforts" to secure the 25-year-old a major transfer this summer, though the player himself is trying to keep his head down and is not actively pushing for a move.
Real Madrid are known to be exploring the midfielder market and have been strongly linked with Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez. Tonali has now thrown his hat in the ring as well.
The report adds that Man City are one club firmly pushing to sign the Magpies ace, while a return to Italy - likely Tonali's favoured destination - is unrealistic due to the money required to sign him.
