Chelsea Transfer News Today: New signing close as €100m offer ready
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Elliot Anderson, Said El Mala and Mateo del Blanco.
Anderson bid ready
Chelsea are ready to rival Man Utd and Man City for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, as per Fichajes.
The England international is seen as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who has cast doubt on his long-term future at Stamford Bridge with his comments in the wake of the Blues' Champions League exit.
It is claimed that Chelsea would be ready to pay as much as €100 million to secure the Forest star's signature ahead of his other suitors. The West London giants are confident of winning the race for Anderson.
Chelsea close in on Del Blanco
Chelsea are on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Union Santa Fe left-back Mateo del Blanco, according to Renzo Pantich.
Primarily a defender, Del Blanco has also been utilised on the wing. He has fielded interest from Boca Juniors and River Plate, but neither club was able to sign him this winter.
Chelsea are now said to be closing in on his arrival, though he would not immediately suit up for the Blues after joining this summer. He would instead be loaned to BlueCo sister club Strasbourg.
Chelsea could spark El Mala bidding war
Chelsea are concretely interested in Koln wonderkid Said El Mala and could spark a "serious bidding war," according to Sky Germany.
The 19-year-old is enjoying a breakout season in the Bundesliga and has been fielding Premier League interest since the summer, when Brighton made several unsuccessful bids for him.
The interest from Brighton persists, and it was recently claimed that El Mala had greenlit a move to the Amex, but the report states that this is not the case, giving Chelsea a chance to sign him even if the Seagulls are considered the favourites for his signing.
Romano confirms El Mala interest
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the development of El Mala at Koln.
“It is true, as reported in Germany, that Said El Mala, a talent born in 2006 who will turn 20 in August, is a player being followed by Chelsea and is on their shortlist," Romano explained.
"There are at least three or four clubs trying to enter the race for him. He is a big talent, highly appreciated across Europe. Newcastle have also made some calls, and several English clubs, as well as teams from other countries, are interested in this young player with huge potential.
"This is expected to be a significant battle for El Mala in the coming weeks, with talks and discussions already starting."
Romano on Rosenior
Romano also provided an update on the situation of Liam Rosenior, who is under growing pressure in light of poor recent results. According to the Italian, the Blues boss is not yet at risk of the sack.
"At the moment, despite all the questions, Chelsea continue to believe in their manager," Romano said. "We all know football is a results-based industry, so we will see how things develop in the coming months.
"However, Chelsea are showing full commitment to the project they started with Rosenior, who arrived in January. It is very different when a coach arrives mid-season compared to the summer, when you can prepare tactically, technically, and in the transfer market together.
"Arriving in January is always more complicated, especially with a very young squad like Chelsea’s. The idea is to support and trust Rosenior, but of course, he has to deliver, as every manager does. Chelsea are not judging him based on just a few games, as it has only been a matter of weeks."
