Boca Juniors and River Plate were both linked with Del Blanco during the recent January transfer window, however they were unable to finalise a deal and they now look set to miss out on his signature to Liam Rosenior’s side.

He is then expected to become the 10th player to join Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea since BlueCo purchased the Ligue 1 club, with the defender set to compete with former England international Ben Chilwell for a starting berth at left-back next season.

Del Blanco has scored two goals and provided one assist in 10 appearances since the beginning of the 2026 season, and although his natural position is at left-back, he has also been deployed as a left winger on occasion.

Liam Rosenior confirms Chelsea transfer plan

While Chelsea are set to complete another wonderkid signing in the form of Del Blanco, head coach Rosenior recently hinted that a shift in transfer strategy could be in store this summer.

When asked if he would like the club to sign more experienced players ahead of next season, Rosenior recently told Sky Sports: “We're growing experience here and, in the summer, you'll see. You'll see in the summer.

“Right now, we have those conversations but my job is to make sure we finish the season as strong as possible. To talk about transfer business and dealings in March is not a bright thing to do.

“The idea is to win. That's something myself and the sporting directors and the ownership are all aligned [on].”

However, Chelsea face the prospect of losing star man Enzo Fernandez this summer, with the 25-year-old recently hinting that he could be open to a transfer amid interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues have already finalised the signings of Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Dastan Satpaev and Denner ahead of this summer, while they are also reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco.
