Enzo Fernandez contract offer

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to rip up their wage structure in order to secure the long-term future of star midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Following the club’s 8-2 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions league last-16, the Argentina international hinted that he could look to leave Stamford Bridge after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, but Liam Rosenior’s side have no intention of sanctioning a sale.

It has previously been reported that Fernandez and fellow midfield star Moises Caicedo are both keen to be rewarded for their recent form with an increased salary, and Chelsea are now ready to engage in advanced talks with the former, as per TEAMtalk.

It’s claimed that Chelsea are preparing a “record-destroying contract” in an attempt to retain Fernandez’s services beyond this summer.

The Blues have a strict incentivised wage structure in place, but they are ready to disregard this policy in order to keep Fernandez, according to TEAMtalk. In fact, it’s reported that Chelsea could offer the 25-year-old a weekly salary of roughly €460,000 (£400,000).

If this is true, and Fernandez agrees to these terms, he would become the highest-paid player in Chelsea’s entire history.

Fabrizio Romano provides Fernandez latest

Despite this, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that an exit could take place this summer.

Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “Enzo Fernandez spoke with ESPN Argentina, and his comments were very interesting, because in that moment a player can easily say it is not the time to talk about his future, that they just suffered an elimination and must focus on the next games, but Enzo did not go in that very closed direction.

“Instead, his answer was quite open about the future, and when he was asked whether he would be at Chelsea next season, after some reports in Argentina, Enzo Fernandez said that now they have eight games left in the Premier League, they have the FA Cup, and then they will see.

“When a player answers in this way, there is usually no smoke without fire, so something is happening behind the scenes, and my understanding is that there have been conversations for some months between Enzo Fernandez and Chelsea to find a solution on improved contract terms and adjust his deal, but at the moment, in mid-March, there is still no agreement on a new contract.

“If the situation continues like this, I am sure both sides will still try to find a solution, but if they cannot, after the answer we heard last night Enzo Fernandez could be open to exploring options in the summer transfer window, so there is a real possibility he would welcome a move in the summer if there is no agreement on a new deal before then, because everything starts from those contract talks.”

Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen decision

Chelsea goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen both face the prospect of being sold this summer, according to Football Insider.

Mike Penders is set to return to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2026-27 season following a successful loan spell at Strasbourg and he will reportedly be given the chance to fight for the number one shirt.

As a result, at least one of Sanchez or Jorgensen are set to be sold, with Liam Rosenior eager for Penders to be his first-choice goalkeeper after working with the young Belgian during his time at Strasbourg earlier this season.

Pau Cubarsi interest

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Barcelona wonderkid Pau Cubarsi, whose current contract at Camp Nou includes a €500 million release clause.

The Spain international, 19, is already considered to be one of the best central defenders in world football and Hansi Flick’s side are planning on offering him a new and improved contract shortly, with his current deal due to expire in 2029.

The Blaugrana have no intention of allowing the teenager to depart Camp Nou, but Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester City are all keeping tabs on his situation, as per a shock report from CaughtOffside.

It’s claimed that a deal is unlikely to take place this summer, however all four clubs are known admirers of the 19-year-old and will be ready to pounce if Barcelona are able to finalise a contract extension agreement with the defender.

Chelsea eye Bundesliga striker

Chelsea remain interested in signing Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani this summer, despite the imminent arrival of Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg.

That is according to Bild, who claim that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both eager to finalise a deal for the 23-year-old ahead of next season.

Asllani has scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 27 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
