Chelsea prepare €100m offer for Enzo Fernandez replacement
Chelsea are reportedly ready to rival Manchester City and Manchester United in the race to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Liam Rosenior’s side are understood to be on the verge of finalising a deal for Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco, but they remain eager to bolster their options in the middle of the park amid concerns that Enzo Fernandez may depart the club.
The Argentina international has hinted that he could potentially leave Stamford Bridge following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs keeping close tabs on his situation in west London.
Reports have indicated that Chelsea are set to offer Fernandez a new and improved contract in a bid to retain his services, while the aforementioned Rosenior is optimistic that his star midfielder will remain at the club.
When asked about the 25-year-old’s future ahead of Chelsea’s crucial Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday, Rosenior told reporters: “I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning at the training ground. Not just about the comments, but the future and how much we want to win the coming games.
“I would say he made it really clear to me how happy he is here, how much he wants to win for the team, and how passionate he is for this football club. He said also the translation and emotion got misconstrued. He is completely committed to this football club.”
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has insisted there is “no smoke without fire” and Fernandez’s future remains a concern for the reigning Club World Cup champions.
As a result, they have begun identifying possible replacements for the ex-Benfica superstar and they have earmarked Anderson as a top candidate for the role, according to a report from Spanish publication Fichajes.
Elliot Anderson to join Chelsea?
Anderson has enjoyed a stellar season at Nottingham Forest and he is widely expected to start alongside Declan Rice for England at the upcoming World Cup.
Man City are understood to be the frontrunners for his signature this summer, with some reports claiming that a deal is close to being finalised, while Man Utd are also eager to sign him amid their pursuit of a Casemiro replacement.
However, according to Fichajes, Chelsea are ready to rival the two Manchester clubs by submitting a €100 million offer for his services.
The Blues are reportedly confident of winning the race for Anderson this summer and they are willing to offer him a prominent role at Stamford Bridge in an attempt to bring him to west London ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Anderson has made 40 appearances for Nottingham Forest so far this season, scoring two goals, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €47.7m.
