Liverpool receive NEW offer for Luis Diaz to unlock Alexander Isak deal
Bayern Munich have restarted discussions with Liverpool over a deal for Luis Diaz, which could have a huge knock-on effect on the Reds' ability to sign Newcastle star Alexander Isak.
The Premier League champions have just completed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike to the tune of €95 million, but an even bigger arrival is seemingly in the works.
On Thursday, bombshell news emerged that Alexander Isak has begun exploring his options amid ongoing interest from Liverpool. The Reds have informed the Magpies - and they maintain their position - that they are willing to make a record bid for the Sweden international.
Opinions on whether Liverpool could sign Isak differ wildly, with some believing that this is all just a ploy to get a better contract at Newcastle, while others genuinely believe that the free-spending Anfield club, who have already splashed north of €300m this summer, will add the striker.
Whatever the case, it is clear that Liverpool will have to make some big-money sales to raise funds. Much-maligned striker Darwin Nunez is the subject of renewed interest from Al-Hilal, while star winger Luis Diaz is being chased by Bayern Munich.
Bayern make new Diaz offer
According to Sky Germany, Bayern have now submitted an improved bid for the Colombian, who is understood to be very keen on the move as the Bundesliga side are offering him a lucrative four-year deal.
Liverpool have repeatedly made it clear that Diaz is not for sale, but at this point, the consensus in the industry is that this is merely a negotiating tactic. The Reds will likely sell at the right price.
Bayern had an initial offer worth €67.5m knocked back by Liverpool, and they have now returned with a higher offer, although the exact value of the proposal has not been disclosed. The player is patiently waiting for an agreement between the two clubs.
Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs claims that the negotiations are not quite as advanced yet. He insists that no new written offer has as yet been made, with communication between the two clubs still purely verbal. However, he acknowledges that a formal bid could come at any moment.
Jacobs adds that Liverpool remain unaware of the financials involved in Bayern's forthcoming offer, which seems to be the reason why the German report has not been able to reveal the fee of the proposal they assert has been made.
Jacobs previously stated that Bayern's second bid is expected to clock in at around €75m.
