Arsenal summer signing Eberechi Eze has insisted that he is worth the €69.3 million fee Mikel Arteta’s side paid Crystal Palace to sign him this summer.

The England international was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in August, however Arsenal hijacked the deal and brought him to the Emirates Stadium after finalising a blockbuster deal for his signature.

Eze, who was released by Arsenal as a 13-year-old, has registered five goal contributions in 15 games since returning to the club and he enjoyed a successful November international break with England, scoring in their 2-0 win over Serbia last Thursday.

After initially being deployed as a left winger, Eze has taken advantage of Martin Odegaard’s injury lay-off by starting as an attacking midfielder in Arsenal’s last six Premier League matches, and while he is yet to hit the heights he reached at Crystal Palace last season, Eze has revealed that he remains extremely relaxed in north London.

Eberechi Eze comments on Arsenal price tag

“Pressure? For me? No. Pressure, no, because I think that is just how my belief system is set up,” Eze admitted on the Beast Mode On podcast.

“I don’t feel the pressure because of what I believe, and the faith that I have. I feel like I have been put in a position, because a club like Arsenal deemed it worthy.

“They pay that money because you are worth that money. Putting it into numbers is hard, because my belief system is set up on a different thing.

“But it is an opportunity. It is an opportunity to go play, do my stuff, be the player that I know I can be - and then you will tell me if I was worth the money or not.”

Eze added: “It’s up a level, in terms of attention. There is a lot more surrounding Arsenal than there is Palace.

“You have to consider so much more. There are a lot more eyes on you. You get noticed a bit more. It is different off the football pitch.

“On the football pitch, it is the same. You are playing the same game, you are playing to win, you are having the same types of conversations. Different processes and systems, but still the same principles. But, off the pitch is a big shift.

“I feel like that is a natural progression in football as you move clubs and you move on and upwards, things started to shift a bit and this was expected.

“It is something I am enjoying and I am trying to handle it with grace. It is a blessing.”
