Man Utd on red alert with scouting mission set to arrive for dream signing

Manchester United could get the chance to complete another scouting mission on Lewis Hall as the defender looks to start for England against Czechia.

The Newcastle United left-back is hoping to earn a fifth cap for the Three Lions when they continue their Nations League campaign in Prague this evening.

Nico O’Reilly sat out of England’s training session on the eve of the game, meaning there is a good chance Hall will feature at the Fortuna Arena.

And Man Utd will be interested observers if that proves to be the case, with various publications claiming Hall is their dream signing at left-back.

It is understood the Red Devils will try to land the 22-year-old at the end of the season, having failed to convince Newcastle to do business in the summer.

Man Utd considered signing a temporary left-back while they wait for Hall to become available, including Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde and Manchester City’s Rayan Ait-Nouri.

However, Barcelona and Man City were not interested in accepting loan proposals, causing United to walk away from negotiations with the two clubs.

Hall signed a new five-year contract with Newcastle earlier this month, though Man Utd are believed to be undeterred in their pursuit of the former Chelsea full-back.

Hall ready to fight to wear 'heavy' England shirt

Having missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad, Hall is keen to impress manager Thomas Tuchel during the international break.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the Czechia game, he said: “It's a heavy shirt. I mean, you're representing England, one of the best countries in the world.

“Whenever you step on the pitch, you've got to be at your best. You've got to be doing the right things because there's a lot at stake.

“I think everyone who's in the squad, and even players who aren't in the squad, know how much it means to each other to play for our country.

“It's always nice competition and I think it's healthy to get the best out of players.”

After their trip to Czechia, England will then travel to Croatia on Saturday before facing Czechia again at Wembley Stadium three days later (Tuesday, 6 October).

Man Utd meanwhile return to action on Saturday, 10 October when they entertain fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

United have endured a difficult start to the season having won just two of their seven games in all competitions, including three losses.
