Antony sends emotional transfer message ahead of Man Utd return

Antony has presented a heartfelt parting message to Real Betis ahead of his - seemingly undesired - return to Manchester United.
The Brazilian moved to Seville in January in search of regular game time. Antony joined Real Betis on loan for the remainder of the season, and it is fair to say that he left a lasting impression.
The 25-year-old instantly became a key player under Manuel Pellegrini, enjoying a veritable career renaissance after going down as one of the biggest flop signings in Premier League history at Man Utd.
The €95 million man chipped in with nine goals and five assists as Betis finished sixth in LaLiga and stormed to the final of the Conference League, where they were ultimately defeated by Chelsea.
Betis have made no secret of the fact that they want to keep Antony around either permanently or via another loan. However, the Brazilian's goodbye letter to the Spanish club suggests that a reunion is not on the cards.
Antony fell back in love with football at Betis
The tricky winger has taken to his social media channels to issue a heartfelt parting message to Betis, going so far as to declare that the Seville club made him fall back in love with football in a clear broadside against parent club Man Utd.
"Today is the day to thank one of the most beautiful chapters of my life," he said. "From the first step at this club, I felt something different. It was like coming home, like finding a piece of myself that I thought I had lost. With you, I started to smile again.

"Thank you for welcoming me as one of your own. Thank you for giving me back the joy of playing football. And thank you for reminding me why I fell in love with the game. My home, my people, thank you so much."
Antony will now formally return to Man Utd, although it is not expected that he will be given a second chance by head coach Ruben Amorim. Atletico Madrid and his former mentor Erik ten Hag, now at Bayer Leverkusen, are said to be interested in him.
