Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is planning for six sales in the summer, which could in turn raise €200m to sign the likes of Matheus Cunha and Victor Osimhen.

While Man Utd are closing in on Cunha, who reportedly “loves” the idea of joining the Old Trafford club, and Osimhen, who has already agreed basic terms, money is required to complete such moves.

Amorim has already admitted that sales are required to fund the major overhaul so clearly required and half a dozen players are set to depart, The Mirror reports.

In the plan that the Portuguese has outlined, the Red Devils’ current squad will not be severely weakened. Four of the players – Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia – are already away from the club on loan.

On top of this quartet, Man Utd are also seeking to move on Casemiro and Alejandro Garnacho, both of whom are rumoured to be still interesting Chelsea. The Blues could also sign Sancho, who they are obliged to buy.

These six deals could see a flood of money coming into the coffers at Old Trafford, with the Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of these players coming to close to €200 million.

Garnacho is the player who stands to raise the most money for Man Utd. The Argentina international has an ETV of €59.2m, just ahead of Rashford at €58.6m.

The big question Man Utd must answer

United have traditionally had problems selling players for close to their true value, so it remains to be seen whether they can raise these funds with these six moves.

Rashford, for instance, has a buy-out clause in his Aston Villa loan that is only worth €47m (£40m) - notably short of his ETV. Barcelona are set to offer even less if the Villans do not take up that option. Sancho is in a similar position.

One major reason for United struggling to extract value from their sales is because of the large wages that players have at Old Trafford. Rival clubs simply cannot afford to match these while also paying the type of value these players are worth.

Regardless, the Red Devils need to find a way to make big sales in order to land Amorim’s major targets this summer.
