Celtic Transfer News Today: January signing confirmed as Nancy targets winger deal
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Celtic transfer news, including updates on Julian Araujo and Nacho Laquintana.
First January signing announced
Celtic have officially completed their first signing of the January transfer window, with Julian Araujo arriving at the club on a six-month loan deal from Bournemouth.
The Mexico international joined Andoni Iraola’s side from Barcelona in 2024, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular for the Cherries and he hasn’t featured for the club in the Premier League this season.
Upon confirmation of his move to Celtic Park, Araujo told the club’s official website: “I am really happy to join Celtic. This is a top club and I can’t wait to get going and work hard with the other players to bring our fans success.
“I know the demands at a club like Celtic, and I am ready for these. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and I want to play my part in bringing good times and good, winning football to our supporters.
“I have met the boys already. We have some great players in the squad and we are all ready to tackle the second half of the season and do as much as we can for the fans.”

Celtic target Nacho Laquintana
After finalising a deal for Araujo, Celtic are now eyeing a possible deal for Red Bull Bragantino winger Nacho Laquintana.
That is according to Carve Deportiva journalist Martin Charquero, who reports that a transfer could take place before the end of the January window.
Laquintana scored on his senior debut for Uruguay in October and he could be set to secure a move to Wilfried Nancy’s side this month.
Chelsea scout joins
Celtic have strengthened their recruitment team with the addition of James Bell-Walker from Chelsea, as per The Herald.
Bell-Walker spent nine years as Senior International Scout at Stamford Bridge following spells at Bolton Wanderers and Everton.
Upon his move to the Scottish outfit, he posted on LinkedIn: “New adventure starts today. Delighted to be joining Celtic, a huge club with huge ambitions.”

Fraser Forster secures transfer
Celtic club legend Fraser Forster has completed a Bosman move to Bournemouth - seven months after leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Hoops goalkeeper, who made 236 appearances and won eight trophies during his time at Celtic Park, has been a free agent since his departure from Spurs, but he has now secured a six-month contract with the Cherries.
In the process, the ex-England international has reunited with former Celtic team-mate Ryan Christie, who has been at Bournemouth since his move from the Scottish giants in 2021.
