FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours from 12 April, including the latest updates on Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Ethan Nwaneri.

Carrick wants Rogers, but so do Chelsea

Michael Carrick has approved Man Utd's pursuit of his former Middlesbrough player Morgan Rogers, but Chelsea are also pushing to sign the Aston Villa star, TEAMtalk claims.

Villa do not want to sell the 24-year-old, but they may have no choice if they wish to avoid further trouble with UEFA's financial regulations. If they have to cash in on him, they will try to make Rogers their new record sale, meaning that he must fetch a north of €117.5 million.

Should Chelsea win the race for the attacker, it could have a knock-on effect on Cole Palmer's future because missing out on Rogers would see Man Utd shift their focus to the Blues superstar.

Romano: Nwaneri's Arsenal future is in doubt

There is no guarantee that Ethan Nwaneri will be an Arsenal player beyond this season, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The teenager is currently on loan at Marseille after failing to get regular game time in the first half of the season. Arsenal could cash in on him this summer to generate pure profit, having previously fielded interest from Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea.

When quizzed about Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who could also be sold this summer, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta insisted that they must "earn" the chance to play.

"It is complicated," Romano said of Nwaneri's situation. "He is at Marseille on loan, not with an option, so he is not going to stay there next season. He will go back to Arsenal. But what happens in the summer transfer window?

"There have been reports saying Nwaneri could go to Borussia Dortmund, or that he could leave Arsenal permanently. But let me be clear. Dortmund wanted Nwaneri on a permanent transfer from Arsenal already one year ago, when Arsenal were negotiating a new contract and eventually managed to agree one.

"At that time, Chelsea were also very interested, and Dortmund were strongly in the race. That interest remains strong now. Several clubs around Europe are attentive to the situation. But Arsenal have not told the player or his camp that he can leave in the summer. So that is not the case at the moment. It is still not decided.

"At the end of the season, Arsenal will assess the situation with Nwaneri. Not today. Nothing is clear yet. Dortmund are still hoping to do one of their usual deals, with top talents and then potentially sell them later. So Nwaneri remains on their shortlist, but nothing is decided by Arsenal yet."

Gordon open to Arsenal and Bayern

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon is interested in a potential move to Arsenal, CaughtOffside states, but the Magpies are likely to demand up to €100 million for the England star.

Moreover, Arsenal could face strong competition from Bayern Munich, who have made contact with the player's camp, as per Sacha Tavolieri. Gordon, inspired by the success of Michael Olise, is intrigued by the club's interest.

However, it seems unlikely that Bayern would act on their interest unless one of Olise or Luis Diaz departs the club. They will not spend big money on what would essentially be a backup option.

Spurs reach Robertson agreement

Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement to sign departing Liverpool star Andy Robertson on a free transfer this summer, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The legendary left-back will leave the Reds after nine trophy-laden years at Anfield when his contract expires after this season and looks to be on his way to North London.

Spurs already attempted to sign him in January, but the deal collapsed because Liverpool were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at AS Roma. Now, Robertson has greenlit a Bosman move to Tottenham, but only if they stay in the Premier League.

Bastoni has second thoughts over Barca move

It has been widely reported that Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni is keen to join Barcelona this summer, but Corriere dello Sport asserts that this is simply not the case.

Contrary to the reports, the publication states that the Italy international is unsure about leaving Inter. He has been with the club for almost a decade and previously turned down a move to Man City.

Bastoni was scapegoated for Italy's disastrous loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup playoffs, but he received a standing ovation from Inter fans last week when the Nerazzurri put Roma to the sword.

The 26-year-old is settled in Milan, and he has not informed Inter or anyone else of a desire to leave the club this summer.
