Liam Rosenior has urged the Chelsea hierarchy to reject any offers they may receive for talented academy graduate Josh Acheampong.

The England U21 international still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, however he has been heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks.

Acheampong, who was wanted by a number of elite European clubs before signing fresh terms at Chelsea in late 2024, has only started six Premier League games so far this season and the club’s pursuit of Stade Rennais centre-back Jeremy Jacquet has raised renewed questions over his long-term future with the west London giants.

The 19-year-old has been an unused substitute in 13 of Chelsea’s last 19 matches across the Premier League and the Champions League, and his situation has alerted the attention of Bayern Munich.

Vincent Kompany’s side are among the clubs keeping close tabs on Acheampong’s development and Chelsea are expected to receive a number of approaches this summer if he continues to be overlooked.

However, new head coach Rosenior has insisted that he is a huge admirer of the Cobham academy graduate, despite the teenager’s lack of first-team action since his appointment.

Liam Rosenior on Josh Acheampong

During his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash versus West Ham United on Saturday evening, Rosenior was asked about Acheampong’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

“Josh is an outstanding player, I want him with me,” he emphatically replied.

However, fellow defender Axel Disasi could be set to leave the Blues before the end of Transfer Deadline Day on 2 February. The Frenchman is now back in first-team training, but an exit is likely amid talks with West Ham.

“For Axel I'm delighted,” Rosenior said. “I don't like the term ‘Bomb Squad’, they are players and human beings. He has been good in training. If anything comes up for Axel that is good for his career, we will go for it.”
