Manchester United target Conor Gallagher has once again admitted that he is frustrated with his playing time at Atletico Madrid.

The former Chelsea midfielder is hoping to be on the plane to the 2026 World Cup, but due to the competition in the England squad, it is clear that Gallagher will only be included by Thomas Tuchel if he plays regularly.

This is a problem, however, because the 25-year-old is often merely a substitute at Atletico Madrid, which is proving to be a source of frustration. Gallagher was already worried about his minutes in the summer and explored a late move away.

Man Utd were interested in pouncing on this opportunity, but Atleti blocked the move as they did not want to allow Gallagher to leave the club on loan. Heading into the January window, Gallagher's worries have only increased.

Naturally, links to Man Utd have continued, given that they are in the market for multiple midfield reinforcements. Although it is acknowledged that Gallagher is not a top target for the Red Devils, it is believed that a move could again be explored in January.

Gallagher admits Atleti frustration

Out of all the players on Man Utd's shortlist, Gallagher is the most attainable mid-season. It was previously believed that Atleti would only sell him for a profit on their €42 million investment, but Fabrizio Romano has revealed that as little as €30m could be enough to sign him.

The player recently confirmed that, although he is loving life in Madrid, he is unhappy about his playing time, and he has now reaffirmed this while speaking to Sky Sports.

"It's good, I'm happy, but obviously I want to play as much football as possible," Gallagher said. "I think every footballer would like to be on the pitch for 90 minutes every single game.

"Obviously, I'm at a world-class club, and there's a lot of amazing players. The most important thing is how the team plays and the results we get. At the moment, it's going really well for us."
