Arsenal make SHOCK January move for Man Utd wonderkid
Arsenal have been tipped to make a shock move for Kobbie Mainoo in January.
ESPN's Mark Odgen reports that the Gunners are looking for potential cover for Martin Odegaard, who is struggling with persistent injury this season.
Ogden believes there is a good chance that Arsenal will move for Mainoo in January.
He says that Mainoo could be available if Man Utd find a replacement, but he says that he doesn't believe that the youngster would accept a move to Arsenal.
Napoli favourites for Mainoo
Napoli are the current favourites to sign Mainoo on loan in January.
The 20-year-old is unhappy about the lack of playing time he is getting under Ruben Amorim and has made it clear to United chiefs he wants a dry loan until the end of the season.
Napoli have been considered favourites having been keen on signing him in the last days of the summer window, only to be told by Man Utd he was not available.
Aston Villa, Newcastle, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all said to be interested also.
The midfielder is frustrated that he has only started 12 of Ruben Amorim's 37 Premier League games in charge at United.
And he is pushing for a loan move for the second half of the season in order to aid his development and to try and get back into the England squad for the World Cup.
Mainoo was not part of Thomas Tuchel's latest squad due to a lack of minutes at United.
The England midfielder has been a substitute in every single Premier League game this season. He only started the EFL Cup defeat to Grimsby.
Mainoo has made 82 appearances for Man Utd since his senior debut in 2022-23 and has also been capped 10 times by England, playing at Euro 2024.
