Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Man Utd CONFIRMATION, Guehi PLAN, Barcelona TRUTH
Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped a major update on several key stories ahead of the January window, including the latest on Antoine Semenyo, Marc Guehi and Barcelona.
Three done deals
The January transfer window is nearly here and Romano confirmed three done deals during his latest YouTube video.
“The first one ‘Here We Go’ is for a talent for the future at Bayern,” the transfer reporter said. “He is called Virgilio Olaya, he is 17 years old from SD Aucas in Ecuador. A player who was wanted by several clubs. There was another European giant in England who was very interested in Olaya, but Bayern won the race.
“Bayern have an agreement for Olaya to join the club on a four-and-a-half year deal valid until 2030.
“It's going to be valid from February 2026. Why? Because the player will turn 18 years old and then he will join Bayern. He will go on loan immediately.”
Romano added: “Niclas Fullkrug will become a new Milan player. The deal is done, it’s agreed. It is a loan deal with a buy option clause of around €13 million. The player is ready for his medical and contract signing and he is a new striker for Milan.
“The third ‘Here We Go’ of the day is Endrick to Lyon. He will be a Lyon player from the 1st of January, ready to play under Paulo Fonseca. Endrick already spoke to Fonseca and he is ready to join Lyon.
“Straight loan, no option, no obligation, back to Real Madrid in June. Lyon will pay 50% of the salary. There is a clause for a number of guaranteed games he has to play at Lyon; otherwise, Lyon will have to pay a penalty. So this is the agreement, and it’s a ‘Here We Go’.”
Barcelona chase new centre-back
Barcelona have been linked with a number of defenders ahead of 2026, although Hansi Flick’s side are unlikely to splash the cash in January.
“After the injury of Andreas Christensen, Barcelona have started exploring the market for a new centre-back,” Romano admitted. “Barca are looking for a new centre-back in the January transfer window. It could be an opportunity and I don’t expect Barca to go for a super big name.
“Many of you are asking me about Nico Schlotterbeck. Many of you are asking me about Marc Guehi. Barcelona are following several centre-backs for summer 2026 to add a big name. We will see how big, depending on the opportunities and depending on the finances. But for January, it should be more of an opportunity - maybe a loan, maybe a market opportunity.
“Barca are considering internally, with Deco and the board, the possibility of adding one more centre-back in January after the partial ACL tear for Christensen. So Barcelona could enter the market for a centre-back, and it’s something they are seriously evaluating internally.”
Marc Guehi latest
The aforementioned Guehi is wanted by several elite European clubs, with his current contract at Crystal Palace due to expire in July.
“Guehi is a player who’s been linked with basically all the big clubs in Europe. All the big clubs have called to understand the situation of the centre-back at Crystal Palace,” Romano revealed.
“As of today, there is still nothing advanced with any club for January. The feeling of those close to Guehi is that the most likely outcome is a move in the summer on a free transfer, staying at Crystal Palace until the end of the season and then joining his favourite club in the summer.
“There is Liverpool in the race. There is Bayern in the race. There are more English clubs, including Man City, also calling. Barcelona and Real Madrid made some calls to understand the situation at the end of October, beginning of November, and we will see if they decide to enter the race officially or not.
“There are many clubs interested in the player, but at the moment, the most likely outcome is a summer move.”
Romano added: “Today, surgery for Alexander Isak, and that’s bad news. He will be out for several months. Liverpool will now assess what to do in the January transfer window, but there is a possibility, as I told you yesterday, that Liverpool will enter the market.
“We will see whether it’s going to be for one or two positions, but Liverpool are considering the possibility of entering the January transfer window.”
Antoine Semenyo update
Finally, Romano confirmed that Man City and Man Utd are currently battling to win the race for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.
“Ruben Amorim has explained that Man Utd, in January, will not go for short-term solutions. Injury for Bruno Fernandes, small injury for Kobbie Mainoo, players going to AFCON,” Romano said.
“Amorim said in public, but also in private meetings with the directors of Man Utd, ‘I don’t want players for two or three months, and then in April we already know he’s going back to his club in the summer’. Amorim wants signings for the future - signings for the long term.
“Man Utd will not sign a player who will spend maybe two or three months at Man Utd, maybe ten games, and then leave. He wants a different approach. If he has to suffer because of injuries and this kind of situation, he’s ready to do that.
“But in the case of January signings, he wants important players for the present and future, not just for the present, not just for the short term. That’s the mission.
“In this way, Man Utd are pushing and pushing to try to get the deal done for Antoine Semenyo. Man Utd are against Manchester City - this is the situation today.
“Today contact took place between Semenyo’s camp, Man Utd, and Man City. The two clubs are pushing, presenting their projects, their technical view, and their financial opportunities for the player.
“What about Liverpool? Many of you are asking me about Liverpool. Liverpool made calls in November to understand the structure of the £65 million release clause. Liverpool have a very good relationship with Bournemouth, but at the moment, Liverpool haven’t called to enter the race.
“They called to be informed on the situation at the end of November. The injury to Isak could open different scenarios for Liverpool on the market, so I would be attentive to the situation.
“But as of today, Man Utd and Man City are battling for Antoine Semenyo. This is going to be a very interesting story because Semenyo will decide soon. The clause is expiring on the 10th of January. My feeling is that we will have a Semenyo ‘Here We Go’ in this January transfer window.”
