Arsenal learn summer target has ruled out move elsewhere - at least for now

Arsenal have learned summer target Jacobo Ramon is not planning a return to Real Madrid any time soon, according to reports in Spain.

Ramon has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A since joining Como from La Liga heavyweights Real in July 2025.

The 21-year-old was a near ever-present as Cesc Fabregas’ side finished fourth and qualified for the Champions League last season, making 32 league appearances.

And his performances did not go unnoticed as Arsenal considered signing Ramon in the summer transfer window, according to BBC Sport.

The Gunners had the Spain prospect on their list of targets before deciding to sign England international Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa for €59.6m (£51.2m).

It is understood Arsenal will continue to monitor Ramon this season, while Chelsea also believed to be keeping tabs on the young centre-back.

And the Premier League duo have now been told Ramon could become available next summer if he continues to sparkle for Fabregas' Como.

One destination that has been ruled out, however, is Real, with Spanish outlet Diario AS claiming Ramon rejected the chance to return in the summer.

Real reportedly wanted to re-sign Ramon but the Spain Under-21 international made it clear he wanted to continue his development at Como.

Diario AS claims Real also have the option to sign Ramon for just €9million (£7.7m) next summer, but they would need him to change his mind over a return.

Chelsea were linked with Ramon before signing Lacroix

In addition to Ramon, Chelsea were linked with a number of other defenders before signing Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for €60.7m (£52m).

The Blues were credited with an interest in England centre-back John Stones before he joined Serie A champions Inter Milan on a free transfer.

Spanish publication MARCA also claims Real centre-back Raul Asencio turned down the opportunity to join Chelsea in the summer.

Xabi Alonso’s men have kept just one clean sheet in seven games this season, whereas Premier League champions Arsenal have recorded five in eight.

Arsenal return to action when they entertain Leeds United on Saturday, 10 October, while Chelsea host Bournemouth on the same day.
