The Birmingham outfit are looking to get their winter business done early after a hugely disappointing summer window, which was partly to blame for the club's poor start to the campaign.

Since then, however, Unai Emery's men have bounced back in a spectacular way. Aston Villa have won nine of their last 10 Premier League fixtures and skyrocketed up the table.

After beating league leaders Arsenal at Villa Park at the weekend, the in-form Villans are now just three points behind the Gunners - and the good news just keeps coming.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Villa have agreed a deal with Gremio to sign Brazil youth international Alysson. Villa's interest in the winger was revealed earlier this week, and they have moved swiftly to tie up his signing.

Villa agree Alysson deal

Romano reports that Villa will part with a guaranteed fee of €10 million, with Gremio due to earn up to an additional €2m in bonuses. The 19-year-old will complete his medical at the end of the month.

On the face of it, this is a fairly trifling sum of money, and it's likely informed by the fact that Alysson's attacking output is certainly not the most spectacular for a winger. In 41 games for Gremio, the teenager has contributed a goal and two assists.

However, having comprehensively scouted the forward, Villa feel confident that Emery can work his magic with Alysson's raw talent, similar to how he turned January 2024 signing Morgan Rogers into one of the Premier League's most exciting attackers.

Given how Emery likes to operate, it may take some time for Alysson to make his mark on Villa's first team. But it is undeniably positive that new director Roberto Olabe is getting business done early to rectify the mistakes of the summer and to give Villa the chance to compete on multiple fronts heading into the new year.
