Chelsea star Mudryk handed 12-month ban
Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk has received a 12-month ban for driving offences after being caught with ‘excessive’ window tints, having already been disqualified from the road.
Mudryk is currently serving a ban on the pitch as well after being charged by the FA for an alleged doping offence, although his long-term punishment has yet to be revealed.
The Ukrainian international has always maintained his innocence for his drugs ban and Chelsea are still supporting Mudryk as he waits for clearance of a ‘B’ sample of the violation.
However, on the road his situation has been more clear cut, with The Sun reporting that Mudryk was pulled over by police, who spotted ‘heavy’ dark glass on his £140,000 (€160,000) BMW, prompting a background check revealing his previous ban from driving.
Court magistrates heard that Mudryk was only behind the wheel because ‘his chauffeur was not available to take him to training’ and his defence team claimed that the 24-year-old ‘was not thinking’ and had ‘faced a difficult year’.
Mudryk admitted a charge of driving without being qualified and without insurance and pleaded guilty to using a vehicle that could cause danger, leading to a 12-month community order including 60 hours of unpaid work and a £199 fine.
Mudryk still left clueless over football future
The news compounds a nightmare year for Mudryk, who last played for Chelsea in November 2024, having tested positive for a banned substance while on international duty with Ukraine that month.
The FA charged Mudryk for doping offences in June but there has been no clarity over his future since and it was revealed last month that there is no indication of when a conclusion will be reached.
Mudryk could face a four-year ban from football if found guilty but he has continued to be supported by Chelsea and Ukraine, with his former club Shakhtar defending his innocence earlier this year.
The forward still has six years remaining on his contract with Chelsea but he is not allowed to enter the club’s training ground during his suspension by the FA, leaving Mudryk in the dark over his long-term standing.
