Fabrizio Romano drops Moises Caicedo transfer bombshell
Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the truth behind Moises Caicedo’s decision to change agents.
The Chelsea midfielder released an explosive statement earlier this week to reveal that he has fired Manuel Sierra as his agent in a now-deleted post.
Caicedo is now set to be represented by his family, and Chelsea fans are concerned that his decision could be fuelled by recent speculation linking him with both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
The Ecuador international has enjoyed a sublime 2025-26 season so far, scoring three goals in seven Premier League matches, and his form has caught the attention of PSG and Real Madrid as both clubs look to bolster their midfield roster.
Los Blancos, in particular, are eager to land Caicedo amid their pursuit of a new midfielder to replace club legend Luka Modric.
Xabi Alonso has requested the signing of at least one central midfielder in 2026, as per reports in Spain, and Caicedo has been identified as a possible alternative to Chelsea team-mate Enzo Fernandez, Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton, Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and PSG duo Vitinha and Joao Neves.
However, Romano has confirmed that Caicedo isn’t looking to leave Chelsea next year.
Moises Caicedo transfer truth
“Guys, this situation for Moises Caicedo from what I understand, is not linked to his future at Chelsea in this moment,” Romano admitted to his YouTube viewers. “Moises is happy at Chelsea. Moises is focused on Chelsea. Moises is only, it’s important to say that, focused on Chelsea.
“There are some cases of players who can change agents because they are preparing a move for the following year… The case of Moises Caicedo is different. Moises at this moment, is focused on Chelsea, fully focused on Chelsea. This is not linked to an imminent change of squad.
“He’s on a long contract at Chelsea. Chelsea already in August started some conversations with his previous agents over a potential new deal for Caicedo. The club maintained the intention to reward Caicedo with an important contract. He’s already on a big salary, so it’s not an urgent situation.
“He’s on a long contract so it’s not an imminent or urgent situation but Chelsea are very happy with Caicedo and Caicedo is happy at Chelsea. So that’s the situation at the moment.”
