Man Utd set for €228m transfer boost as Amorim rebuild takes shape
Manchester United’s summer rebuild is yet to fully take shape, although the club could be handed a major transfer boost if they are able to offload a number of unwanted stars.
The Red Devils ended a dismal 2024-25 campaign down in 14th place in the Premier League table, while their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final means they are without European football of any kind this season.
This has added an extra complication to their summer transfer dealings, with many high-profile stars opting against an Old Trafford switch in favour of joining a club who will be competing in the Champions League next term.
Sporting CP superstar Viktor Gyokeres is a prime example, with the Sweden international on the verge of joining Arsenal after rejecting a big-money move to Man Utd.
Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon are the only two players to have joined Ruben Amorim’s side so far this summer, but the Red Devils are in advanced talks to land Bryan Mbeumo, while a new centre forward is still regarded as a top priority amid the uncertain future of Rasmus Hojlund.
However, Amorim has a limited transfer budget at his disposal and Man Utd will be required to offload a number of players before they are able to sign much-needed reinforcements ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Who will Man Utd sell this summer?
Tyrell Malacia, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony will all leave Old Trafford this summer, and if Man Utd are able to offload them for their exact Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), they will earn a whopping €187.1 million.
That figure is likely to be boosted further due to sell-on clauses included in the departures of both Anthony Elanga and Mason Greenwood in recent years.
The former is set to earn Man Utd around €5.8m when his move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United is confirmed, while the Red Devils may earn €35m if Greenwood moves to Saudi Arabia, as reports suggest, due to a 50% sell-on clause included in his Marseille contract.
As a result, Man Utd could be set for a major transfer boost that will enable Amorim to finally sign the players he needs to transform the Red Devils back into serious competitors on the European football scene.
Man Utd's transfer list
Player | Position | Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) |
---|---|---|
Tyrell Malacia | Defender | €12.2m |
Alejandro Garnacho | Forward | €59.8m |
Marcus Rashford | Forward | €53.6m |
Jadon Sancho | Forward | €37.7m |
Antony | Forward | €23.8m |
