Frustrated Gyokeres makes Arsenal decision as Endrick 'door opens'

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres is unhappy about his reduced role this season.

The Sweden international experienced a mixed first year at the Emirates. While Gyokeres was an important part of the side that won the Premier League, his overall performances were slightly underwhelming.

No one expected him to match his output from Portugal, where he bagged 97 goals in 102 matches for Sporting CP, but there were high hopes that he could at least prove to be a game-changer for Arsenal.

He was, to some extent, but only against weaker opposition. He scored 14 times in the Premier League, but not one of his strikes came against Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea or Aston Villa.

Arsenal were not actively looking to get rid of the 28-year-old this summer, but they would have been open to suitable offers. He was far from untouchable, and they were even considering offering him to Atletico Madrid in exchange for Julian Alvarez.

Gyokeres growing frustrated

With Kai Havertz fully fit and firing, Gyokeres is firmly second fiddle at Arsenal now. Ahead of Saturday's clash with Brighton, he had only played 12 minutes of Premier League football after being an unused substitute in three of four matches.

Understandably, then, rumours abound that the Swede is growing increasingly frustrated with his situation. CaughtOffside claims that Gyokeres "feels undervalued" and is "open" to leaving the club.

Gyokeres is said to have already begun exploring his options amid supposed interest from Serie A and the Saudi Pro League. Ben Jacobs recently confirmed that the striker had been "touted to the Saudi market" in the summer.

Arsenal, it is understood, would be willing to part with Gyokeres in January only if a suitable replacement is available and ready to join. Could Real Madrid starlet Endrick be that replacement? Potentially.

Arsenal reportedly explored a move for the Brazil international in the summer, and TEAMtalk writes that the door to a possible move could be "open" in January. Like Gyokeres, Endrick is unhappy with his current situation.

For the second time in 12 months, the 20-year-old suffered an unfortunate injury at a crucial juncture in his career. He missed pre-season under Xabi Alonso last year and was forced to play catch-up, and he has now slipped below Carlos Espi in the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

He made a brief cameo against Elche on Tuesday, but those are his only competitive minutes so far this term. If the situation doesn't change, he will once again push for a January exit - and potentially a permanent one this time.

The report states that Endrick's representatives will hold talks with Real Madrid during the extended international break to get clarity on his role in the team and long-term development prospects.

He still dreams of making it at Real Madrid, but he will not try to force the issue to the detriment of his career. If Real Madrid can't promise him a prominent role going forward, he will take his talents elsewhere.

The "lines of communication" between Arsenal and Endrick remain open, the report claims.
