Ronaldo is expected to confirm his departure imminently after a successful two-and-a-half-year stint with the Saudi Pro League outfit.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had been expected to sign a new lucrative contract with Al-Nassr, worth a reported €400 million, but he dropped a cryptic exit hint on social media after their final game of the season amid interest from several clubs across world football.

“This chapter is over,” Ronaldo posted on X. “The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

The Manchester United and Real Madrid legend knocked back Al-Nassr’s approach, according to AS.

Al-Nassr sporting director Fernando Hierro told the media in a press conference on Thursday: "We are still in negotiations with Cristiano. Hopefully we can find a solution on a renewal."

Who Cristiano Ronaldo sign for?

Ronaldo is said to be seeking a new adventure, and ideally one that would allow him to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.

AS reports that CR7 has “no shortage of offers” while transfer rumours in recent days have seen the 40-year-old linked with Wydad Casablanca and Botafogo.

The Spanish source indicates that unnamed Mexican sides are interested in signing Ronaldo, with Monterrey and Pachuca the representatives from the country in the Club World Cup. This makes these clubs the likeliest destination for the Portugal icon in Liga MX.

But there is also the possibility that Ronaldo signs for Al-Nassr’s Pro League rivals Al-Hilal, with reports in Saudi suggesting that the agreement the player has with the government could prompt him to remain in the country.

This is dismissed by TeamTalk, which indicates that Ronaldo does not want to join another PIF club. Instead, he could remain at Al-Nassr if he is guaranteed a title-winning squad.

Furthermore, there is also the suggestion that Ronaldo could even retire after leaving Al-Nassr, which would come as a major shock given that he is chasing down 1,000 career goals.
